If Palace are desperate for some money right now we might still be able to come to agreement.

I must admit this has crossed my mind as well though......

I imagine we may haggle and get him for around 6.5million going up to something like 8mill.

3.8m plus add'ons.

No wonder their chairman was short with us.

Be interesting to see if we go back tonight/tomorrow with a bid north of 5m- if not then there is certainly the accusation to be thrown that we either A- were the ones who made it public to attempt to unsettle Zaha B- made the bid to say to the fans 'oh we tried'.

That's the thing I don't understand with us, we make these silly bids that will never be accepted, yet when a club does it to us (Arsenals bid for cahill) Gartside goes off on one like they have no right to.

I would be surprised if we went back in with £5million.

How is £3.8m plus add-ons for someone completely unproven taking the piss? Asking for £15m most certainly is on Palaces behalf...

£3.8m is a lot of money plus there's supposed to be hefty sell on clause.  Call it 25%, if they're so sure he'll be  £20M player in the future then they'll net another £5m when the time comes.  The lad has potential but they and he could have a shite second half of the season and he could go for £2.5m in the next 12 months.

If we've made a proper offer and no one offers good money for Zaha or Clyne (out of contract in 6 months) tomorrow then I'm pretty sure they'll be willing to look at our proposal in 24 hours.

Is he actually worth it this lad? I haven't seen him but I remember hearing good things about Darren Pratley when we took him from Swansea. I know we didn't part with any money for him but so far he has been a waste of space. I don't want us wasting all this money we've just got hold of and taking a gamble on a player who could just be enjoying a bit of good form and struggle to cut it at a higher level.

I have just been on a crystal palace forum and I am surprised at some of the reactions. Got some who said they want more than 5millon but the majority don't rate him that highly.

Sounds like another player who just runs into a blinde alley when ever he has the ball.

Tuesday's Mirror:

Sounds like a good offer to me...possibly giving them 1/2 of any sell-on.

Good Morning Chaps...

Thought I would have a look at what your fans are saying around this bid and thought I would clear a couple of things up....

1) Our club never leaked the bid, yours did.  Coyle spoke openly about the bid to the press.
2) We have no desire to sell Zaha and absolutely not to a small premier league team like Bolton that make silly verbal bids to try and appease fans.
3) We are not in financial trouble, we have new owners that run the club sufficiently so again, that is incorrect. We do not need the money.

Zaha is very highly rated, after Jonny Williams he is considered the best talent we have had for a long long time.  He has his head screwed on, he has a new 5 year contract signed only a couple of months ago, he loves CPFC, he loves the support and when he does leave, I can guarantee you it will not be to Bolton but to a much bigger club.

Thank you and good luck for the rest of your season.

I'd never heard of him before the 2nd leg against Cardiff that was on tele.He looked pacy and gave 100% but had no end product, that was why Palace lost to another Championship club.Never heard of Jonny Williams either.

1- The bid came 2 days before Coyle first spoke of it, if that wasn't Palace trying to drive up an auction then it must have been Zaha's agent trying to make his player known to be in demand. It makes no sense for our interest to be public knowledge with other clubs like Newcastle and Stoke sniffing around who could probably financially muscle us out of this one.

2- Perhaps not, but it isn't against the law to make offers. The last bit smacks of being a little bit bitter about our approach, I like Palace but Bolton Wanderers are quite obviously, to anyone looking at it with an unbiased view, a bigger club and a step up from Crystal Palace. Similarly we've signed far far bigger players in the past 5-10 years than young Wilf.

3- Can't dispute that. Although similarly I've seen things bandied around on Palace forums about us being 150, 200, 250M in debt and six months from administration. Those predictions would be as exaggerated as your own financial woe. We do owe money to our BWFC fan owner (who happens not to be a 'fan owner' twonk like Simon Jordan) but our immdiete bank debts are 10m.

Going to a big club straight away probably won't benefit him, he's not good enough to walk into a team like United or Arsenal, but going to somewhere where he'll play most games at Bolton offers him the opportunity to attract those clubs- we've put far bigger players on (or back on) the map in the last few years. Anelka, Sturridge, Wilshere, Cahill.

Good luck to you too, my Dad 'supports' (I use that word in the loosest terms possible) Palace because he lived in London for a couple of years when he was younger and "liked the name", so I'd personally like to see them do well.

That's a fair reply Jimbo and I suppose us the fans, will never know the 100% truth what goes on behind closed doors.

I have no doubt as it stands today Bolton are a bigger club, that is no dispute.

Bolton, to the neutral are a very innofensive club so I don't wish them any ill. Maybe I am wrong but I place teams like Bolton, Wigan and Blackburn as very similar standard these days and when our Victor Moses went to Wigan, it seems a mistake, I would love our best players to go on to one of the big clubs, but, maybe they are just not good enough and we are deluded!

Anyway, all the best, hope you stay up.... And without our very own Zaha...

Take care.

Make as many points as you like, football is a job and most people don't say no to trebling their salary (which we could) if it ever got to that stage.

Well Zaha won't be coming judging by his tweets.

We've already got one teenager with inflated ideas about his ability and standing in the game (Boyata) don't need another. Best left where he is.

Given how it dragged and how much he would've cost I think he would've struggled mentally to deal with it.  Anything can happen on deadline day, one move opens up possibilities elsewhere.

It's looking like Palace don't want to sell for what we're offering, but most importantly it doesn't look like Zaha wants to come here.

Iturbe, as expected won't be happening, so unless Coyle can pull something out of the bag at the last minute we've got Ream and the Jap.

It means we're going to have to stay injury-free until Chungy is back to full fitness though.  Eek.

If your players were as good as you seem to think they are Palace would be playing in the Champions League. None of your players are worth anywhere near £5million. You are a bit deluded imo.

I've nothing against Palace but I hope we never play you again. It's a bastard of a place to get to from here.

Take care.

Putting us on a par with Wigan will see him getting knocked out.
