Bolton host Wigan Athletic on Saturday 11th February 2012 and supporters of both clubs will be walking from the DW Stadium to the Reebok Stadium.

The walk is a fundraising event aimed at supporting the Emma Hoolin Appeal.

Emma Hoolin is a five-year-old girl from Wigan who is suffering from a form of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma. After completing treatments of chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Manchester Royal Childrens Hospital, Emma is now undergoing six months of immunotherapy treatment in the United States, aimed at giving her the best possible chance of long-term survival.

Immunotherapy treatment is not available on the NHS in the United Kingdom and is an expensive solution in private medical sector.

With initial costs standing at £211,000, the Emma Hoolin Appeal was established to help fund the treatment. Unfortunately, Emma has suffered setbacks which require extra care in the United States, meaning the total cost of her treatment could rise to in excess of £350,000. So far, the appeal has generated more than £310,000.

On Saturday 11th February 2012, Bolton Wanderers play host to Wigan Athletic at the Reebok Stadium. On the morning prior to the game, there will be a large number of people walking the six mile distance from the DW Stadium to the Reebok Stadium to raise awareness of neuroblastoma and generate funds for the Emma Hoolin Appeal.

Whether you're a supporter of the Wanderers, Latics or just wish to raise proceeds for this worthy cause, we urge you to join the Walk4Emma event by registering your interest at walk4emma@hotmail.co.uk. In return, all interested participants will receive a sponsorship form, poster and details of the walk.

All participants will meet outside the DW Stadium at 10am on the morning of Saturday 11th February 2012 before setting off for the Reebok Stadium at precisely 10:30.

Refreshments and toilet facilities will be available at the designated stop-off point at New Springs Ex-Servicemen's Club on Cale Lane, before the walk comes to an end at the Reebok Stadium at approximately 13:30.

To donate to this worthy cause, please visit the official JustGiving page for the Walk4Emma event.

I won't be doing the walk but after working with Vital Wigan to promote the it, I hear there are plenty of Bolton fans joining in. Credit to them and hopefully there isn't a repeat of the weather we've just had this weekend gone.

I'm quite looking forward to it, first time I have done a walk for charity and this looked like the perfect one to do for a starter.
