Could play along side Xavi and Iniesta and not look out of place, quite a magic player, his form is high class atm.
Dribbling, passing, movement, interceptions, tracking back, goals, shots etc
Holden, Lee and M.Davies are our trio of brilliance, M.Davies is stepping it up big time without them, with NRC and Muamba giving him some licence to roam it's showing in his game, he's such a Barca/Arsenal esque player, not comparing ability to the top players, but he's certainly our top player atm.
Love it how N'Gog holds it up and he's there in support and when we're defending he's there to help out.

Yes, reminded me of the days when Kevin Nolan was always supporting the front men and scoring goals. He does look very good on the ball and is an intelligent player. Was a superb performance by him today. I loved the formation today. 4-4-2 is dead in football, you need that extra man in midfield and for the wide players to join up with the striker. If we play like that for the rest of the season we'll stay up easily.

Without doubt I think we're seeing his best run of form since he joined and I'm glad it's happening for him in a central position.
He did well out on the right but we all know he's a centre midfielder and as I mentioned in the match thread, with people like Muamba and Reo-Coker behind him, it gives him the freedom to push forward and support for forwards which is his natural game.
He's nowhere near the finished article but if he can stay clear of injury and add a bit of consistency to his game, especially his end product, we're going to have one very good player on our hands.

He was great today. I had serious worries about him and his inability to impose himself on games, but christ has he come-on leaps and bounds recently. Brilliant form at the minute.

He also seems to be looking trim/slimmer and fitter than in the past. Long may it last.

Previously Coyle was trying to make the players change to his system but he has finally realised that you have to change the system to suit the players.
I agree with Malcom 442 is dead in modern football. England proved that in the last world cup, they were the only team in the competition playing that way and look what happened.

He's definitely upped his game this season in the absence of Holden and Chungy and has now become pretty much the best player in the side except for Reo-Coker. Obviously, Coyle was playing him a little out of position on the right for a while this season, but he still did well out there. I am glad we have shifted to this 4-5-1 formation as it gives us the opportunity to play our 2 ball winners in the middle of the park in Muamba and Nije and then we can give Mavies the free role of making the team tick, so to speak. He's always had the talent to be a terrific footballer. He's just never been given a run of games in a favoured position. He's deceptively quick and can glide past players without them noticing!

Too true, best £1million he spent that's for sure. Our midfield looked complete yesterday with the 2 holding players and sparky creating and finishing. My only problem is when he comes deep to collect the ball, just wish he would stay up instead of trying to go back and collect it.

Don't worry, his contract doesn't run out until June 2015, so there's plenty of time for him to sign a new one.

I'm just watching the re-run now and sat here shocked and stunned at how good Muamba's passing has been. I didn't notice this yesterday but I had quite a few fizzy drinks before the game. We are talking forward passing aswell not just passing it sideways or backwards like he normally does.

Coyle has FINALLY found the ideal role for him. I always thought he was a very talented player, but he's too lightweight to play in a 4-4-2.
By having NRC and Muamba behind him it gives him more freedom.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see one of the big clubs put in a bid for him this month.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, he's only had a couple of good games for us. When he does it for a full season then I might get worried we will lose him.

That was the same mazy run he makes once or twice every game; the difference is that there was a finish at the end of it this time. I like Davies, he's got a willingness to run with the ball that few of our players have. His best position has always been behind the striker so I'm hoping his progress will continue now that we're going 4-5-1.

It looks like Davies agrees with what we're saying. He's enjoying playing through the middle of midfield and wants to get more goals between now and the end of the season/ "It was a great win for the lads on Saturday and it was a real team performance," Davies told the club's official website. "We had been long overdue a win like that at home.
"I was happy to get the goal and I think that helped set us up for the win. Getting the first goal against a team like Liverpool is always important if you are to take the three points, and fortunately I managed to score it.
"To be honest, even though I'm right footed I seem to score most of my goals with my left foot. It was the same story at Blackburn a few weeks ago too, it's strange how that happens.
"I'm starting to feel really sharp, and I think that is because I'm getting a regular run of games in the team. I've enjoyed playing through the middle too and that has meant I have been able to get in these good positions.
"If I can score a few more goals between now and the end of the season then I'm sure we will move up and away from the bottom of the table. It's important that every player does their bit."

He's been really good lately. I've always had high hopes for him. He's added some goals to his game and he doesn't go missing as much in matches, as he used to do.
I think he can be a big player for us, for years to come.
I also agree, that the 4-5-1 formation has helped him better; than the 4-4-2.

I think this current role is just waht he needs. Being part of a 4 man midfield has meant too much emphasis on him "putting in a shift" rather than doing what he does best ... and IMO that his running with the ball in the final third.

March 3, Bolton play city De Jong has a habit of dirty tackles on attacking midfielders

Oooh, good point. He FINALLY looks to have got over all his niggling injuries. This is probably the longest he's been injury-free in his time here. Fingers crossed he continues to steer clear of them. No need to worry about de Jong. Yaya will be back by then meaning de Jong will be getting splinters in his arse.
