He's been a critical signing for us.  I was happy when we got him.  He's a player with a lot of Premier League experience, been captain at 2 clubs, and still only 27.  It's not every day you get an £8.5 million player for free.  His goals have been an added bonus that I did not expect.

Paul C., to be fair to Reo Coker, he could have signed on again for Villa, if it was all about playing for the biggest club going.

But he's here now, so we will hopefully extend his deal in the summer when we stay up.

Amen to that!

Technically he is playing for the biggest club going though...

Seriously though Nije is a great player. He seems to has bought into what the club is about and really cares. It's great to see him going head-to-head with people like Bellamy and shows he's up for the fight. We need a few more like him!

I'll not disagree with that.

I was getting thoroughly pissed off watching us roll over and get bummed week-in, week-out ... and then watch our players be all smiling and joking with the opposition as they left the pitch.

Given that we only gave him a 2 year deal I think we need to be looking to extending that now as a priority, at the end of the seadon he'll have 1 year left on his contract and the Cahill saga starts all over again.
For me he's shown enough to make this a priority

Fooking immense last night.

Him and Wheater were absolutely incredible.

If/when we stay up, NRC needs to be offically appointed club captain and be given a contract extension.

I agree he has been great for us and is giving 110% each and every game. Is it just me or do you think he has a bit of a personality issue. I know he was an arse in the dressing room at WHFC , which was one of the reasons they let him go, I didn't hear much from villa regarding this, but after every game he just seems really stressed and angry, I have noticed a few times, for example when knight tried to separate him from Bellamy he was having a pop at knight too, also after the Liverpool OC went up to him to pat him on the back and he responded quite aggressively !

Just wondering if he might end upsetting the dressing room and if coyle can keep him reigned in.

Having said that done wait till the end of the season offer him a new contract NOW!

I would think he had a personality issue if he DIDN'T want to kick Bellamy's ass.  I get what you're saying but I think he's just hyper competitive.  Not a bad thing to have one or two players like that.

At any rate, there's no way he'll sign a contract extension until we stay up.  After that, if we give him the armband and 4 more years I think he'll sign.

My only worry with NRC is that while his talent is unquestionable, the amount of clubs that have shunted him out suggests he is a bit of a fanny, hope that does'nt repeat itself here, but once a fanny always a fanny.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression, so just give the twat a good shoeing, he'll respect you.

This seems unfair, I mean Villa gave West Ham £8.5 million for him so you can't say West Ham "shunted" him.

I think his departure at Villa came about as a result of a big fall out with Martin O'Neill.  Rumour is our Nige stuck one on him.

He'll do for me.

Reo-Coker did an excellent impression of Scott Parker against Arsenal.  Good touch, solid passing, work rate (aside from 20 minutes in the second half, when he may have taken a knock) and an attacking threat at times - all combined with good defensive work.

That's the sort of performance I envisaged when I was calling for him to be signed in the summer.  Delighted with him.
