Eidur Gudjohnsen and  Florent Laville.

Good call. Laville stopped us conceding goals and we kept a lot of clean sheets with him and Gudni at the heart of our defence in 2003. Sadly he got injured early in the following season and never really recovered.

wiki says he only made 15 appearances for us but looking back he must have been good cause i thought he had made a lot more. i remember him as being a no nonsense defeneder. i'm sure he took one for the team and got sent off for pole axing an arsenal player near the half way line, not sure if it was also the tackle that caused his injury.

Per Frandsen and Claus Jensen.

I liked these two.
I remember Jensen missing what would have been one of the greatest goals I have ever seen. Can't remember who it was against (possibly Ipswich) where he got the ball in his own half dribbled past virtually their entire team but then when he got in the 6 yard box for an easy finish he tapped it straight to their keeper.

This is tough though. A fit Holden would beat the lot of them & Jussi from 5 years ago would help, but just to be different I will go for Warhurst or Nolan & Mark Fiiiiiiiiish.

We got him in January 2003 so I guess 15 appearances is right. I think I remember the incident you are talking about but I thought it was against Man U.

15 appearances is correct. He joined on loan (I think) in the January and impressed so much that we signed him in the summer as a direct replacement for the retired Bergsson. Unfortunately he got injured a few games into the new season and never came back.

Laville and N'Gotty could have been a great pairing at the back for a good few years. Instead, we ended up messing about with the likes of Emerson Thome!

Youri Djorkaeff and Daniel Sturridge. The two most important January signings I think we've ever made.
