We've no money to spend and unlikley to be bringing in much quality this transfer window.
If you could have any 2 players from our history, at their peak to play with the current lot, which two would have the greatest chance of keeping us up?

We have the Cahill money to spend if the right players are available. We should complete the £2.5m signing of Ream on Monday.
But in answer to your question, Gary Speed and Nicolas Anelka.

You'd have to pick Lofthouse.
As the best striker we've had at any stage in the Premier League, my other choice would be Anelka.

Lofthouse, Finney, Charlton, Matthews, Wright, Moore etc couldn't cut it in today's game. Might be a controversial opinion but the game is far more demanding than it was in the 50s and 60s.

Super John and Sir Nat. A far better SoS partnership than Shearer and Sutton.

I can only speak to my time of watching, so picking Lofthouse would just be going with popular opinion.
From my time, it'd be Nic and Hierro. In their prime, both world class.

Surprised at those of you going for 2 strikers when you know Owen would probably stick one of them on the wing For me - N'Gotty as he could play anywhere across the back and Worthington as a scorer and creator

Sharps, it's a shame you don't know anyone who can recommend you a more user friendly phone and contract package.

It's got to be a striker and a defender. So McGinlay and Bergsson for me - both did a wonderful job for us.
A midfield general would be nice too, in which case I would pick Peter Reid.
