Anyone use it or know much about it?

Seems like a good deal at only 6 quid a month.

They are doing a months free trial if anyone is interested.

Why pay when you can get it for free?

I can't be arsed spending ages downloading films and the likes.

Prefer it to be streaming (unless something has changed over the past few years as I don't generally download stuff any more)

Can you get Spooks anywhere else?

I'd assume the BBC don't put it on their site so they can flog DVDs

When I watch films online I just click play now and it comes on. You don't have to wait ages for it all to download. I did get a virus last time I tried to watch something though so I suppose £6 a month is worth paying.

Dunno about Spooks. Just type watch spooks into google and you'll get an answer.

I don't know if it's just me but I'd rather have the actual DVD of a film. If you ignore the initial rush when they're released, you can usually pick them up for less than a fiver on Amazon within a few months.

As for streaming TV shows, if they're not on iPlayer, ITV Player, 4oD etc then an alternative is seesaw.com. It seems to be down at the moment but they used to provide shows for free and had paid subscriptions for other stuff too.

I don't know anything about Spooks but how about this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search?q=spooks&partner=exclusive

I have the US version of Netflix and I love it.  I get streaming movies straight to my TV and I get 6 discs per week via the postman.

Over here, they have a massive catalogue, so you can watch fairly recent releases and lots of old movies and TV shows.  It's especially good for me as I love to catch up with English shows I've missed.

Plus, with the movie mail delivery, I save money on buying movies as I can actually bu...  Never mind. Wink

Sounds like the 'lovefilm' set up (without your dodgy home antics). Think the subscription to that is way higher though.

I was attracted to the fact there is no messing about with postage and the likes.

My bill for 6 movies a week and unlimited streaming is $24.72 a month.  However, I am considering dropping the mailing part and just having the streaming part.

I also have AmazonPrime, where I can stream for "free" as a Prime member.

I've signed up for the free trial of Netflix. Heard a few good things about it and like the fact`you can use your PS3 to watch movies/tv from there.

I'm like Chris, I do like to have a hard copy of the films I like and I have a collection of around 200 dvds but there are quite a few in the Netflix library which I don't own, can't really be arsed buying and wouldn't mind watching.

I'm tempted to give the free trial a run seeing as it's available on PS3. Then again, LoveFilm has been on there for a while now and I've not bothered to try it out.

Anybody got any reviews of either service?

One of my former house mates used to use Lovefilm all the time before it went online, she loved it (she was a bit odd though).

I really couldn't be bothered with all that fannying around with the post personally.

I have a Roku box to stream Netflix (and other channels, such as Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc.) to my TV.  My son uses his PS3 to stream Netflix in his bedroom.

Personally, I use the streaming mostly for movies that I don't want to own but do want to watch at least once, same for TV shows or TV shows that I missed the first time around and want to see before I decide if I want to own them.

Must have movies, I get through the mail, though there are some movies (like Rise of the Planet of the Apes) that I want to own because I know I'll watch them a fair few times AND I want all the extras that come with owning them.  The movies I buy new are almost always Blu Ray movies these days, where the Netflix movies are regular DVDs.

I'd recommend making the effort to use Netflix during your freeview so you know 100% whether it is for you or not.

By the way, Netflix (at least over here) can be cancelled without penalty.  Oh, and you can also put it on "hold" if you are broke or are on holiday for a week, two or more.
