He's also signed a new contract until the end of next season. http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/news/sampson_commits_to_bolton_2142We did the same thing with Danny Ward at the start of last season. Clubs were interested but we didn't let him leave until he signed a new deal.

I've seen him play a few times and know someone who knows him. He's never really done much when I've seen him tbh. A loan move and a few first team games somewhere should tell us more about him.

He must be a decent prospect, england u19 debut v holland, i don't know how he played though.
Lets see what he can do elsewhere on loan, if he turns out to be good recall him and give him a shot in the first team.

I remember a few years ago there were reports linking him with a move to the rags as people were ranting and raving about him. I mean he must be a fairly decent player to at least get a loan deal. I hope he does well and smashes some goals in. We could do with a few more young players breaking through. Any news on if Josh Vela can break into our first team when he's back from injury?

No doubt he'll be another in the very long line of great prospects we've completely ruined

I have just been reading up on Sampson and apparently he came on for about 15 mins and looked awesome! They are already talking about taking him on loan for the rest of the season!

Olaf Snorrason, Duong Thatch & Lord Kanganga were all allegedly stolen from under the noses of Man U/Liverpool/Arsenal. Jon Walters, Mike Jeffrey, Ricardo Vaz Te, Odabeyi were all hot prospects who with the right coaching and regular football could have progressed far better than they have ever done

Not seen any of the goals myself but heard he set two of them up. Not a bad way to introduce yourself to a new club.

Maybe, just maybe, they weren't actually good enough rather than us 'ruining' them? Jon Walters is the only one on that list who has gone on to become a very good player... but he had to take the scenic route to get there. Fair play to him though, he's worked extremely hard to get where he is now. ... however, you lost any credence in your post as soon as you mentioned Mike Jeffrey.

It's possible that none of them were ever good enough but I have heard on a couple of occasions that our reputation in the game re: coaching young talent is not good. Young players in the NW being encouraged to sign for just about any other club in the area other than us

Staying at Roots Hall for another month. 3 appearances, 2 as sub, 0 goals. Hopefully he gets a better shot at things this month. Southend United have extended the loan of Bolton Wanderers striker Jack Sampson for a further month today.
Sampson, 18, has been on loan from the Premier League side for a month so far.
He has made one start and two substitute appearances since his move from the Reebok Stadium in January.
Jack's loan expired after Friday's 2-0 defeat against Rotherham United but the deal has now been extended until 10th March meaning the forward is available for tonight's showdown with Gillingham.

He got 5 minutes at the end. It was 2-0 to Southend and Gillingham pulled one back as soon as he came on, then Southend were hanging on. Think he only touched the ball twice after that.

Loan deal has been extended into a third month. 8 appearances, 0 goals so far. Seems to have won their fans over, despite his lack of goals. Striker Jack Sampson has extended his loan spell at Roots Hall for a further month today.
Boss Paul Sturrock confirmed after Saturday's 2-2 draw with Accrington Stanley that he had agreed with Bolton Wanderers to keep the 18-year-old at Southend for a further four weeks.
And now the paperwork between the two sides has been completed at confirmed by the footballing authorities.
The England under 19 international has made 8 appearances for the Blues in the past two months.
