Nixon certainly seems to be talking up the Hoillet link on his twitter page.
Big clubs happy to wait till summer on a free (well, tribunal) as is Hoillet. Blackburn may be more inclined to accept more money now. We want him along with a few others (QPR I think mentioned a lot) We're having a go but won't wait around past a week.
Would certainly be a coup, even if it's just a deal with a low release fee, getting him in here and out of Blackburn would be a major aid to our relegation hopes. Quality player.
Still can't see it personally. If he decides he wants to leave now, surely the likes of Liverpool and Spurs will just throw a 5m bid in and outbid on wages/ambition.

It'd be hysterical if we got him. Can you imagine the dingles' reactions?

Utter drivel. Has Hoilett really turned down a new Rovers contract to join the likes of us? Would Rovers let their best player join one of their main relegation rivals? Would none of the top 10 clubs step in to buy one of the best young players in the prem on the cheap when they see he's going to Bolton? Can we even match what QPR would offer? No feckin' way.

Only way I could see it happening was if it involved a relegation release clause for near what we paid for the lad at the end of the season.

The only way I could imagine Hoilett coming here is if it's an agent-led transfer. So an agent goes to Blackburn and says "you want more than just a tribunal fee", and convinces them to sell - at which point who they sell to is flexible. Then it's actually in the agent's best interest for Hoilett to sign for an 'interim' club, weirdly. Because if Hoilett goes to a long-term club, the agent only gets paid once. Whereas if Hoilett joins us, then leaves in 6-18 months - the agent gets paid bringing him here and then paid again when he moves to a bigger club.
That's really the only way I could envisage it working.

Plus we'd be struggling to find a role for LCY, one of our best players, once he was fit again.

Neither can I. I can't imagine it would actually happen. Plus we'd be struggling to find a role for LCY, one of our best players, once he was fit again.
I'm not so sure about that. We could use Hoilett cutting-in from the left in a 4-3-3. I think he'd be very effective.

By all means test their resolve but we don't want to waste time on this transfer as in my opinion I don't see any reason why he'd join us knowing he'll end up at big club on bigger wages.
We need to add pace up front and soon. Even that guy Daniels who played for Macclesfield Saturday made our defenders look daft (not hard I guess) and looked better that what we had.
Concentrate on someone we could get like Maynard.

Hoilett would be a fantastic signing. He's far better than I imagined we would be signing. I'd be surprised if he opts to join us though, especially as he can take his pick of clubs in the summer. Hopefully I'll be surprised! It's also a double-whammy as it means we'd be robbing one of the best players from one of our relegation rivals. Rovers fans would be absolutely furious!! hahaha.

No way will they sell him to us. They'd be crazy to sell to a relegation rival.
Actually with the owners they've got you never know.

Signing Hoilett would be one hell of a signing. We'd be massively improving our side with someone like him as well as making Blackburn lots worse. Just can't see it happening though, surely one of the bigger teams would try to beat us to it. I won't believe it until I see it!
I'd be all over Samba as well with the Cahill money too. It looks like the Kean is wanting to get rid of him. He wouldn't have to move his family and all that. Plus he's a top defender. Once again though surely one of the bigger sides would get him.

I still can't believe Samba is still at Blackburn. He's been one of the best CBs in the league for years now.
Why Wenger's still not bought him I'm not sure.

Because he's a tight fisted git who thinks Mertesacker and Djourou are better players than Samba and Cahill.

I actually think it's more psychological than that. I think he craves the attention he gets from "discovering" players like Henry and Fabregas. I think this reputation has become more important to him as his team have become increasingly irrelevant in the title race. If he bought ready-made Premier League players like Samba or Cahill there would be increasing pressure on him to actually deliver on this promise his young team supposedly has. He did have to deviate from this in the summer; the Fabregas deal went on so long he had to get last minute replacements in quickly and went with Arteta and Benayoun.

Mertesacker and Squillaci were both full internationals though.
Squillaci has turned out to be a complete disaster. Mertesacker, whilst not being quite so bad, is still not a patch on Samba.
Wenger's a coq.

About time this was given it's own thread so all related post from the rumour mill have been merged into this one.
Nothing official but rumours going around today saying Hoilett has had a transfer request turned down. Spurs the favorites for his signature, then Liverpool, then us.
It's pretty obvious he's looking for a pay rise and I suspect he's probably waiting to see if Blackburn even stay in the Premier League. If that's the case, then it effectively rules us out too as we're just as bad as them.
It's already been mentioned but unless we were offering silly money, I can't see Blackburn selling one of their best players to their main rivals when we're both in a relegation scrap.
