But they aren't all facing relegation - we are Paul.
Quantity does not mean survival. If we only sign 1 player and we stay up then isn't that good enough, until the summer? Also no matter how many we sign Coyle will have to select only 25 players to be on the official FA Prem teamsheet for the 2nd half of the season. I'd rather have quality than quantity - at the prices we can afford.

Last time I checked we were on a good run of form and there were 3 teams below us looking more likely to be relegated. Look, don't get me wrong, I want to see us strengthen as much as anybody, but we can only do that if the right players are available at the right price. The January transfer window is notorious for clubs paying WAY over the odds. Just look at the Torres and Carroll transfers this time last year as a prime example. If there are players out there who we can afford and are willing to come here I'm sure Coyle and Gartside are doing their damnest to bring them in. It doesn't help with panic-mongers like you spouting your negativity ... especially whilst the window is still still open.

It took us ages to get rid of Cahill, which has surely delayed our transfers by 2 weeks. As such, allowances should be made.

Are we talking about the same Phil Gartside? I didn't have you down as naive. As a bare minimum I expect us to spend the 7 mil we got for Cahill but I would wager now we won't spend anywhere near that. I'm not panicking quite yet but I will be in 3 months time when we are still 17th or worse.

I'm alright. I just get a bit defensive and write long winded posts. Other than that, I'm awesome. No reason not to.

Hard to say how big a deal this is; but there's a chance it could be a very good deal.
Klinsmann seems to rate the lad. He's not been in the game for long, so it'll have to be a steep learning curve. He needs the fans behind him and hopefully he'll be fine.

I disagree. Klinsmann did a great deal for the promotion of young players who are now key parts of the national side.

I also disagree He has grand ideas, maybe too grand But as a coach very smart truly understands the game and the players Not a very good manager however

Great news, finally seeing him introduced to the media. Strange though, as he is obviously in Bolton for that, yet the BN said he was back in the USA tying up loose ends.

I'm not naive, I'm just realistic ... but thanks for not thinking the worst of me, it means a lot to me. Coyle has got a maximum of £5m burning a hole in his pocket at present. Who is available for £5m who would not want more than, say, £20k per week? Most importantly though, who would fit that criteria AND want to sign for us. I don't think it's as easy as you and many, many others make out. If you're willing to list out a list of potentials then I'll happily review them and eat my words if it turns out I'm talking shite.

My gripe was about the length of time it has taken for us to do deals. I don't know why but every single deal seems to be dragged out for weeks.
I don't understand why it took nearly 2 weeks to sell Cahill. It was common knowledge in December that he was going to Chelsea so all the negotitions should have taken place by begining Jan and he should have signed in the first few days of the window.
So our first target was to replace him , that seems logical, which we have, but this has taken a further 2 weeks. These 2 deals should have been signed and sealed within the first week, leaving us a further 3/4 weeks to spend the rest of the money, if it is actually available to spend (i'm not so sure).
I may be wrong, but I just always get the impression that when it comes to transfers, we are completely disorganised.

I agree we take too long in general Rusty but I think these two aren't the best examples. Everyone knows Cahill took Chelsea aback with his wage demands and they took ages to reach a compromise. There were rumours he was also holding out for a late bit from a Manchester club as his wife preferred to stay in this part of the country. This is beyond BWFC's control. If we'd wrapped that deal up much sooner he wouldn't have put that magnificent performance in at Goodison Park, so I actually think that worked out for the best. With Ream, as I understand it, we applied for a work permit knowing the initial application would fail but confident it would be granted on appeal. I don't know the ins and outs of the home office's work permit procedures, but that delay too was outside BWFC's control to some extent.

Good point Hat about him scoring the winner at Everton, I'm sure they didn't plan it that way, but it worked out for the best.
