Former Liverpool and Everton defender Gary Ablett has died.

When I was younger we used to call E's Gary Abletts.

I don't really remember him but think he played for Everton when I was a kid and possibly played in one of our FA cup wins against the around that time.

He was 46. He had non hodgkins lymphoma.

Doesn't seem too long ago that he was playing poorly for both Scouse teams.

Tributes have been pouring in left, right and centre today for him.

Don't get me wrong, he was a good model pro and I'm sure a lovely fella in real life, but if I see him being referred to as a Liverpool and Everton "legend" again I think I'll be sick.

If he was still alive and anyone said that they'd be laughed out of town.
