If we where all honest the football has been poor now for quite a few seasons, has it not been crap losing or drawing week in week out? Is it not time for a clear out of the dead wood and start from scratch with new younger exciting players? So long as the club has learned from past mistakes surley the future can only get better, Its not going to be easy but we have done it before we can do it again. Wanderers Ti'll I Die!!

Aslong as it does not financially cripple us then I think it could be a bit of a blessing, seeing us win more than we lose and being one of the better teams in the league will be a nice change.

With Coyle as our manager I think it will be a disaster. Our financial situation is dire and unless some mad billionaire takes us over it is not likely to get any better. We are not going to bounce back and the prospect of playing the likes of Brighton, MK Dons and Stevenage rather than the big clubs does not thrill me. Sure it will be nice to win a few games but we should be doing that now.

The problem is I don't think we will be one of the better teams in the championship. Once everyone who is out of contract leaves and the likes of Holden and Chungy are sold we're not left with much. I think we're in for a long struggle in the next few seasons. Happy New Year everyone.

I actually think we can keep hold of Holden and Lee. They've been injured for a long time, so perhaps clubs will have second thoughts about attempting to buy.
They'll stay I think.

Speaking as a fan - a blessing.
Despite staying in the Premiership for over a decade with moderate successess with our European adventure and the occaisional cup run, the Premiership was never going to be suitable for a club of our size unless some idiot with a stupid amount of money decided to throw 100's of millions at it.
You can talk about lack of ambition, but what about some level of enjoyment and expectations for the fans? When your only ambition is to not get relegated it makes supporting your team as about as much fun as fingering a dead rat's bumhole.

Holden quite possibly but I am not sure about Lee. Before his leg was broken he was not injury prone and he had demonstrated his ability at Prem level. Not sure how many years left on his contract or what his wages are but given our financial situation I think he will be sold. Apart from anything else he may not want to play in the Championship - he is a recognised international.

Both Holden and Lee's contracts expire at the end of next season. I don't think anybody would want to take a chance on them in the summer given the seriousness of their injuries, especially Holden.
If we go down, I think we'll keep hold of both until next January. If they're both back in the team on a weekly basis and we didn't look like coming straight back up, they'll go. If we did look good for promotion, we could offer them new deals. If they are rejected, sell them.

Not sure it will be either.
My favourite years as a Wanderer were battling our way through the lower divisions. I'm not sure it will be as much fun this time around paying £30 to sit in a windy stand in Doncaster watching us get stuffed.

I can only see relegation as a disaster. We are massively in debt and what few good players we have will be shipped out of the club to lower the wages. Many fans only know us as a Premier League club and could well turn their backs on the club.
Seeing the stadium half full week after week will make what little noise the fans make seem even worse than it already is.
If you have a romanticized idea of our days in the lower leagues, I think you are in for a rude and depressing awakening. We'll likely take our poor form of the last 3-4 years down with us and nothing will change.
We have to stop the slide.

I'd go with "disaster".
I think the financial implications are nightmarish. The club has been slashing and burning just to maintain it's financial solvency at the Premier League level, never mind lower.
I think the "dream" scenario is just what Coyle said it is - that we do all this cost-cutting and just about stay in the league; leaving us in a much strong financial position.
The medicine, on this occasion, might well kill the patient though.

If we went went down swinging it might not be a disaster but the fact that we're going down in such a pitiful limp fashion is really going to turn off the fans, players who are out of contract, and any potential transfer targets.

I think the plan is to let them go out of contract anyway. The club has made a concerted effort to get it into the media that our "position" will be much better if we can survive this summer. Our position can only mean finances, and ultimately (in football at this level) finances comes down to wages. Anyone who renews will have to be on vastly reduced terms anyway, which is probably enough to put them off before we get into the psychology of relegation. I'd also argue that this group of players wouldn't "go down fighting", they'd stay up if they had any fight in them.

We're going to need to keep SOME of them though. Jesus can you imagine trying to find, AT MINIMUM, a keeper, a right back, two central defenders, a left back, a left midfielder, and three strikers with no money to spend?

We will keep some, on reduced wages. Unfortunately, those "some" will be the likes of an aged KD and Jussi, Pratley, Wheater (possibly), Eagles (maybe) and a couple of other lesser players.
