We all knew that we would get relegated at some point given we do not have a bottomless pit of funds and with the way money now dictates how this league works but its so soul destroying to see us going down in this way.

We was a little better today but we should have been camped outside there area for the last 15 and banging the door down trying to score but we are looking like a person on life support who needs to be put out of there misery.

There is probably only 1 or 2 who can have any kind of pride in the effort they have shown this season but 1 or 2 cannot make up for the lacklustre performances of the rest.

I could not give a shíte about Premier League football, I just really fear for the club and I hope Gartside and Eddie Davies know what they are doing.

What's our flippin ineptitude with set pieces can't even defend a back post delivery. Ayway it was only a matter of time as sharps says. Hopefully we can stabilise in the championship and not tumble down the leagues like others have done before.

I'm fortunate enough to be back at uni next week so won't have to sit through another game for a while now. Actually going to games feels more like a punishment than anything else these days, it's pathetic.

Say what you like about Megson's reign, the performances were never this passionless. I don't think we've got a chance of staying up now but just for the sake of seeing some fight, Coyle still needs to go.

You need to win your home games. We can't beat any of our relegation rivals at home = relegation. The players dont care. We should have been having shot after shot but Wolves looked more threatening.

Coyle needs to go, in order to give us half a chance of staying up, or the at the least, giving us a better chance of coming back up from the championship.

Get him out.

We are stuck with Coyle as it would cost to much to get rid of him and bring in a new manager.Let's hope he can pull off one of his famous loan deals in January,if it was not for Sturridge's goals last season,we would have gone down.I think the next 4 weeks will decide if we stay up or go down.

Everton, Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal to play in the next 4 weeks. We won't get anything from these games. We're down.

Given the games we have left, you have to have a little optimism but if we do not strengthen with real quality then we will struggle.

Being realistic, we can write January off.  Anything we get, be it a point or anything, will be a bonus from those fixtures.  The "must wins" (and it's not a cliche this time, we really MUST win them) are the two games at the start of February.  That basically means that we have this month to get the team into good enough shape to beat Norwich and Wigan.

Coyle has until the end of Jan to sort out some quality additions to the starting 11 (not the squad, they need to be guaranteed first team quality) and get the player's heads on straight for a proper relegation battle.

Chances are though that we'll have just lost 4 on the spin, going into the Norwich game, and we'll just go into our shells and get a kicking.  But that's Coyle's job, to sort their heads out in spite of being cut lose at the bottom.  He's shown no sign he's up to it yet.

Why do we have to write off January though? IF Coyle could get performances out of the players, we could win points.  Look at Blackburn at United yesterday!  Difference between them and us, Kean's players fight for him and our players don't fight for Coyle.

Hard to disagree with any of that.  I didn't say we had to write it off, I said "being realistic".  We were drawing 1-1, at home, to a crap Wolves side - at what stage did we, as a team, look desperate to win?  To my mind, the answer would be "at no stage".

Coyle has a group of players who are scared of the game right now.  They go out, and they spend 90mins worrying they'll lose.  Coyle is actually spot on when he goes on about how players need to be "without fear" and all that; in spite of the fact he can't get them to actually play that way.

Blackburn probably thought they'd get a kicking, but they went out thinking (I assume) "we're going to do give everything to try and beat these".  We go out thinking "I hope we don't lose again".

The mental side of the team is visible on the pitch - players holding onto the ball when they should be trying to find an attacker, other players panicking with the ball and hoofing it to get it "anywhere but here", and most of all players waiting for the ball to reach (and be controlled by) their team mates before they move - because they're scared to bomb-on and be caught out of position on the counter.  It makes for terrible football, and losing football.

The fact that both Cahill and Knight had a go at Jussi suggests all is not well behind the scenes either.  Doesn't make me more optimistic.

How could it not be bad at a time like this?  I'm not sure players arguing is a bad thing, if the aggression can be harnessed.  It at least shows they give a damn.  It's the managers job not to let it fester and turn into some kind of 'blame game'.

That's true. They were having a go because on each occasion the goalkeeper should have been coming out to claim the ball and clear the danger. The same can be said for the Wolves goal. It was poor defending by Ricketts but why was Jussi routed to his line while somebody has a free header two yards from goal.

Apart from Mark Davies, he's the only midfielder we've got who looks like he actually wants the ball.  He also was top of the tackling stats last season.

His loss cannot be underestimated.

Of course we're going to miss players of his and Chung Yong's quality, but that is still no excuse for the lack of effort we've seen from those who are still in the team.  Not having Chung Yong or Holden in the team also shouldn't stop us from doing the basics defensively.

Sorry, run that past me again .......

Would that be why Klasnic never got out of 1st gear against Wolves, or why NRC looked fooked by half-time, or Mark Davies & N'gog looked exhausted by the last 20 minutes ?

Jussi is a shot stopper but only an average goalkeeper if that makes sense.
