Dont know if anyone else has mentioned this earlier (if they have sorry) cant get over how quiet the Reebok was against Newcastle (apart from the loud mouthed pissed up geordies )I stand/sit quite near to the big screen and usually the youth that stand there seem up for it but the other day nothing, it was eerie people just stood there not even attempting to get a chant going, is it because everyone is already resigned to our fate?? or were the Geordies just to loud and our lot couldnt compete?

I can't blame our fans, to be honest. There's nothing to get excited about these days.

I remember people saying how booing the team or chanting against Megson didn't help results. Sitting there and giving placid support to Coyle is giving even worse results. Him seeming to be a nice guy has stopped fans protesting but there doesn't seem to be any pressure on players to do better.

It's difficult being vocal when you are watching your team losing week in week out (especially when you aren't the noisiest of fans in the first place).
They should allow beer in the stands like the do at the rugby. Even if it doesn't make you chant more it can help numb the pain.

From what I could hear on TV the atmosphere at Wolves was quiet too. Little reaction after a cracking goal from Ricketts, and only one second of boos at the final whistle. I think with Megson there was hope that vociferous anger could bring about a change, a view that was vindicated after the Hull game. It's clear now though that no amount of cheering will make these players put together a good series of results, and no amount of booing will get Coyle and Gartside out.

Perhaps it was a bad feed then. The booing was definitely shorter than I would have expected given the importance of getting 3 points from that game.

It's up to the players to give us something to get excited about. Not necessarily goals and good results, but some full blooded effort, chasing down the opposition, looking like scoring, that kind of thing.
Although it's usually the noisiest place in the ground, I avoid the ESL under the screen, it's all 16 year old scrotes.

The atmosphere is poor at the Reebok. It has been for years but it's got worse over the last 12 months. When you look at the results it's not surprising. Watching our team going through the motions and not competing is pretty soul destroying.
That atmosphere at Blackburn and Wigan was absolutely fantastic though, especially at Blackburn. In both those games we attacked the opposition and the players looked like they actually cared. It's not a coincidence.

It's hardly unique to the Reebok though. Did anyone see the first half of the Utd Blackburn match? The place was like a morgue.

Did you hear, during the deafening silence, the Bolton fan scream at Coyle "Get off your ass and fcuking motivate them"? He screamed it a couple of times and, due to the silence, the commentator had no alternative but to mention it and say "someone's already drinking."

Very true. I can only really think of Stoke's fans who seem to be regularly 'up for it' for their home games. Apart from when games are real end-to-end exciting games, it tends to always be the away fans who make the noise.

The Bolton fans went wild after the Ricketts goal. Decent atmosphere up until HT. It went very quiet then in the 2nd half as Wolves equalised and the game just petered out into nothingness. There were definitely quite a few fans in the West Lower and exec boxes shouting at Coyle to do something, reminding him we are bottom of the league and pleading for Davies to come on. It didn't go unnoticed as Coyle turned round several times as did other people near the dug out. The fans just shouted at them to turn back round and watch the game!
