Burnden Aces' private messaging service has been disabled indefinitely for all members.

We will let you know if and when the service re-opens.

If you need to get in touch with me, as administrator, please use the 'Contact Us' link which can be found at the bottom right-hand corner of each page on the website.

Thanks,
Manny

I can see that Sluffy has been removed but how come the invisible mod remains?

Maybe Sluffy removed himself?

People are going to find out sooner or later so you may as well hear it from me.

Sluffy has decided to join forces with a couple of other people and set up a new board. Natasha has joined his board and decided to send PMs to several people on here with a link, trying to get them to join up and because of this, PMs were disabled on here.

As a moderator, Sluffy had access to the registered email address of every member on this website. He has said elsewhere that he had no intention of stealing email addresses and contacting people directly. Whether or not he is telling the truth I do not know, but I shall choose to believe him as I don't have any reason not to.

With PMs being sent to our posters and the potential risk to our reputation and his, I thought it would be best if Sluffy's moderating permissions were removed. We have had a war of words with the Mavies board in the past and I want to avoid a repeat of this with Sluffy. He did a great job on here and put up with a lot of crap but it's time to move on.

If he is reading this, I would like to publically state that Sluffy is still welcome to post on here. There appears to have been a misunderstanding towards how I 'ditched' or 'dumped' him from BA, but I would like everybody to know I have no problem with Sluffy and didn't anticipate all this aggro. At the end of the day, I pay the costs of running the site and I am around a hell of a lot more than I used to be so I decided to make a go of this on my own. If that makes me the bad guy then so be it. It's my site, it always has been and hopefully always will be.

As for Danny. While I am around more often than I have been. I still need a bit of help at times (i.e. matchdays) so I have decided to keep him on board. If a time comes where I feel we need more help, I would gladly invite Sluffy back. However, I don't think he'll accept a moderating role and if that proved to be the case, I believe there are other users on here that could fill the void.

Just for the record I haven't stopped posting on here, and I didn't send PM's trying to "poach" people. I sent PM's to four members to see if they wanted to get involved in the new site. If I was poaching people I'd have sent the PM to the whole site.

I am not a mod or admin person on the new site, I simply said I would support them by posting there. I'm sure plenty of you post on other BWFC forums.

Is there no way of preventing certain people from sending pm's?

Yes but it's a long winded job to do it for one person. It's quicker and easier to take the system down completely. It probably will return in the future but for now, it's unavailable for everybody.

I have just logged in and apparently have a PM which I cannot read.

Possibly it was Sluffy or Natasha asking me to join their gang.

Arh, well.

Maybe I didn't get an invite then. I don't think they like the type who answer back.

It all sounds a bit pathetic if you ask me.

Sluffy and a few others set up a small site.

Manny and Happy Wanderer from WW both go into kneejerk overdrive.
Manny suspends all PMs, because he couldn't be bothered to just stop certain people sending PMs: so everyone else suffers.
Happy suspends Sluffy's PMs on WW, despite Sluffy not knowing anyone well enough on WW to invite them to the new site.

Their new site is no threat to the established BWFC sites, just like my now-defunct White Love wasn't.
Their aim should be (as our was!) to try and take Mavies on.

I did my research before deciding to close the PM system. Burnden Aces uses a script called Simple Machines Forum. Their script does not provide the facility to block PMs for an individual or group of users. The only option available to SMF admins is to close the system completely.

I understand there are people on here who use the PM facility regularly and I am sorry that they have to suffer the consequences of this but until a workaround has been found, the current solution remains intact.

What I posted in this space earlier was inaccurate, I'd been told something that wasn't totally true.

I apologise for my post.

Jam,

I made a mistake based on some inaccurate information.
Manny hasn't bought the domain name, but it does redirect to here.

Hence, my apology.

I'd prefer it if you'd also remove my quote from your post, but that's entirely up to you of course.

Sluffy has set up a new site?

I really must keep up with forum gossip more.

I've never seen the point in going on more than one site. It's too much effort to get yourself established and get to know the other posters.
