Let's get the ball rolling on this one before Christmas.
Form Guide: Bolton: LLLLLW Newcastle: LDLLDL
Two teams struggling for results at the moment. The big difference is Bolton are 19th, while Newcastle are 7th.
In another thread it has been mentioned that if we can stop Demba Ba, we can stop Newcastle and pick up a result. What are your score predictions for the Boxing Day clash?
Bolton will have David Wheater available again after suspension and Sam Ricketts is back in contention after playing 90 minutes for the reserves in midweek, but will they start ahead of Gretar Steinsson and/or Zat Knight.
Will Kevin Davies be recalled in the place of either Ivan Klasnic or David Ngog? What would you do?
Bolton Squad: Bogdan, Jaaskelainen, Lynch, Steinsson, Robinson, Cahill, Knight, Ricketts, Boyata, Wheater, Connolly, Riley, Muamba, Eagles, Petrov, M Davies, Reo-Coker, Pratley, Kakuta, Blakeman, Tuncay, K Davies, Klasnic, Blake, Ngog, Eaves, O'Halloran
Injured: Lainton, Alonso, Mears, Holden, Gardner, Davis, Chung-Yong, Vela
Ineligible: Bennett, Obadeyi

3-1
Klasnic and NGog for us. Ba pulls one back to make things VERY nervy before Petrov, on the break, puts us all at ease late on.

I don't want to appear giddy after our midweek win, but I fancy us getting something against them.
2-1, I don't give an Aylesbury duck who scores them.

We seem to rise to the occasion against teams we have something of a grudge against (grudge used very loosely, mind) so we beat our 'rivals' Wigan and Blackburn and we returned the favour of 5-0 nil to Stoke. We tend to treat the Toon as rivals so I fully expect our first back-to-back victories of the season to happen against Newcastle. No clean sheets here, I'm afraid - 2-1 to us, Klasnic & Muamba for us and Taylor for them from a set piece.

Stick with the same team that beat Rovers with Robinson for Alonso. Tough game that could easily go either way but one we have to win if we're going to get out of trouble. Looking forward to it. 4-3 win for us

Same team as before but with Ricketts in for Alonso not Robinson gives us a chance. Robbo is just not good enough.

Joe Riley completed 90 minutes for the reserves this afternoon in a 2-0 win at Wigan. Sam Ricketts and Sean Davis also played but I've not had word through yet on how long they played.
I wouldn't be too surprised to see Riley on the bench on Boxing Day and I think we'll hold back on Ricketts until the Macclesfield cup game.

Sorry peeps but I think 0-2, think our midfield will get over run and Ba will bum our defence for fun.
Would love to see a win and if we play like the first half of the blackburn game think we could get a result but with cahills head already down south I think we are in for a mauling

I agree with Gazz, Newcastle will win. Bolton don't have good enough midfield and attacking players to beat many Premier League teams.Petrov,Klasnic and Reo Coker are good enough on their day but having to carry the Davieses, Ngog, Muamba,Pratley Eagles or whoever is too many weak links against a top half side.

Terrible. No chance of staying up when we have the worst manager in the league.
My opinion wasn't changed after scraping a win against Blackburn and it definetly isn't going to change any time soon.
Coyle out!

Around 30 mins to Muamba sub we looked fairly comfortable and had them contained..then rather than realise about the only place on the pitch were we are dominating is the midfield duo, Coyle brings off Muamba and switches everyone about.
Obviously it all breaks down.
Mixture of being the manager being incompetant, the players being cowards whose heads drop at the first sign of trouble and other players coming in for injuries not being good enough for the Premier League = relegation.

Another wank game which I'd been looking forward to.
I don't know why anyone would think Coyle is the man for the job, mind you I have thought that for at least the last 10 games.

Eagles has been dropped for a couple of games, comes on and what does he do When we played Villa at the Reebok they played loads of low balls across the box to the edge, for a player to have a strike, we learnt nothing from this and Ben Arfa had so much space to fire it in. Terrible defending.

What a load of shíte that was again. We didn't get going until 25 minutes had gone and weren't even that good then. Why the fúck Coyle took Muamba off I'll never know. Terrible decision. I heard him get interviewed on the radio on the way home and he wasn't impressed with the players. I agree with him. I'm not too impressed with him right now though.
Resign Owen.

Never a point in that game when I felt we would win. A point would have done,
Nothing going forward from midfield, nothing from those two blokes who were the 2 in our 4-4-2.
Everything is just pass back then Jussi lumps it forward. Is that what Coyle thinks suits Ngog and Klasnic?
Piss off you Scottish numpty.

There's too much throwing away of possession that goes on over 90 minutes for a side in the PL to be able to get away with. The constant lifting of the ball would be justifiable if it created chances but it doesn't. It only gifts possession to the opposition and puts us under constant pressure.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.
