Do managers ever quit?

Ok so Bruce Rioch quit, big Sam quit, Colin Todd quit. But do managers of other clubs ever quit?
Ok maybe they do if they have another job lined up- but in general I think they all just wait until the "sacking" so they can have a fat pay day...
am I wrong?

Steve Coppell quit from Bristol City last season just because he had enough of management.

Its this that irritates me about people condemning the abuse managers like Kean get.
Why doesn't he resign? Simple. He's holding out for the compensatory package that will set him up for life.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.

Jewell quit Wigan. Curbishley quit Charlton and then West Ham, although he successfully argued constructive dismissal in the latter case.

Kevin Keegan was a serial quitter.

Strachan quitting at Boro is another one.
Managers tend to usually only quit when they've got somewhere else lined up.
With regards Kean, as Gloria has said above why should he quit? How many of us on here would walk out of their job when they can hang on in their, get the sack and get a huge pay-off? I certainly wouldn't.

It's funny how football has circled its wagons around Kean now and condemning his treatment by Dingle fans. How else are they supposed to get rid of someone so out of his depth? They'll be there long after he & Venkys have fooked off. The mugs

Yes they do quit. A better question would be: do they ever not defend each other? All I see every day in the press is manager after manager coming to Kean's defense. As if each and every one of them would expect to still be in a job after that debacle (Coyle included). Same thing as when Megson was in charge and the fans wanted him out, all we heard about from other managers was how lucky we were to have him grace us with his presence. Their boys-club mentality is beyond irritating - how about speaking the truth? He's done a shÃte job and in a results business should pay the price like anybody else in any other job.

You need to remember that rather than all these managers sticking their oar in, what happens is they attend their daily press conferences and will inevitably be asked, "What's your opinion on the treatment of Steve Kean".
They reply and, hey presto, you have a headline.
