What would your realistic January transfers be if you were Bolton boss? Where would you strengthen?
If I were manager I would be looking at loaning a keeper. Perhaps from Man Utd as their reserve goalie is non to pleased at being second or third choice. Maybe that is over ambitious but there are other good goalies out there sat on benches.
We are likely going to lose Cahill and I am afraid Zat Knight and Wheater don't fill me with hope. I would try to buy Scott Dann and Roger Johnson. They played together at Birmingham and were immense there keeping tonnes of clean sheets - conceding about 1 goal per game for most of the season. They are not the greatest players ever but Johnson is tall and reliable. We need his ariel strength at the back. Also a good partnership is often better than an individual player. Look at our defence and Cahill is supposed to be world class.
Anelka and Drogba are both on the verge of getting the boot at Chelsea. Maybe a loan of Anelka could be on the cards. It may be a slightly romantic view but he would potentially form a good partnership with Ngog. The important other factor is Ngog would learn from a world class player rather than some future prospect kid coming in. Oh bummer. Isn't he going abroad. Ok let's try Drogba.
Coyle should learn that loaning old heads is possibly more valuable than kids.
How about Alexander Hleb? He is currently on loan from Barca at some team but it expires in January. Why don't we snap him up? Would be awesome for us.
Would we get away with a cheeky bid for Bobby Zamora?
And is Owen Hargreaves still alive? We could give him game time which he is never going to get at Man City. Plus, didn't his dad always want him to sign for Bolton? We could offer to take him off their wage bill on a free permanent deal!
And Stephen Ireland. Where is he now?
Let's build a new team!

Yeah, maybe they are not all entirely realistical but lets not have it as a "bash the poster" thread. If you don't agree or think there are other players out there we should get say who or why.

Not bad. Wheater when picked and not banned/sent off ,which grated is very often for suicidial actions IMO works hard and tries to play to the best of his albility and gives a f*ck. Unlike the majority of the players we have at the moment who think it is a big f*cking joke, dont give a shite about the fans and steal their wages. Wheater earns his and deserves to wear the shirt.

Come on jayjay don't be a spanner all your life.
Dann and Johnson have only just moved to Blackburn and Wolves so couldn't move if they wanted to, plus they did get relegated so they couldn't be that good together.
Forget another keeper I am happy with Jussi and Bogdan as they are not our main weakness.
Anelka is going to china and we have much chance of getting Drogba than Jose Mourinho applying for the bolton job if coyle got sacked.
Hleb isn't on loan from barca, he hasn't been a barca play for over 2 years and did't exactly do a lot when he was a birmingham last season.
Where is all this money coming from by the way?..........How much are you thinking were getting for cahill.

Cahill at most 7 million if clubs are willing to spend that amount for a player who is out of contract come the summer.... which top club is that desperate that they cannot wait until the summer?

Hargreaves is so injury prone he would obviously fit right in with our squad but he would play less games than Sean Davis.

Maybe a loan of Anelka could be on the cards.
Do you have any football knowledge at all? Anelka is off to play in China for £8million a year.

Lets not kid ourselves. We are skint. Potless.
We have one saleable asset who we may get approx £8m (if we are very lucky). The best we can hope is for is we get someone else in on loan as part of the deal. Either McEachran from Chelsea or maybe Bassong from Spurs.
What is clear is we will need someone to replace him in defence but we also need a centrsal midfielder who actually wants the ball and is happy to try and create something once he's got it. Seeing as Boyata is gash and he clesarly doesn't rate Kakuta or Tuncay, we might as well try and send those two back.
Hopefully Arsene Wenger can send us one or two of his young 'uns too.
My fear is though, we could be sunk by the time Jan 1st comes round anyway.

We got fairly lucky with Sturridge and Wilshere in that they were both worldclass players at the time that they joined us - their clubs just didn't know it yet. Are there any players like that out there at the moment? I believe Arsenal are keen to loan out Oxlade-Chamberlain but I can't imagine him being good enough to turn our season round. Macheda wouldn't be a bad signing but realistically we need somebody a bit magic to sort us out.
Coyle will just end up swapping Boyata and Kakuta for another couple of youngsters whose confidence he can destroy by making them sit it out each match as they watch Kevin Davies play 90 minutes.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.

Oxlade Chamberlain is a really good shout. He might not turn our season around, but he'd make us a helluva lot better. I'm sure Wilshere would put in a good word for us too.
Macheda is a dreadful shout though. He's gash.
I like the look of that Jonjo Shelvey as well - even though he looks like Terry Tibbs.

I would bring in my dream team, Adam Clayton from Leeds, Gabby Agbonlahor, Sanchez Watt on loan from Arsenal and Chris Brunt.

JayJay has history of picking our team from players that don't belong to us.

Tell you what balls to it let's just cancel all the players contracts we currently have and buy:
...............Hart...........
Ramos......Smalling......Pique.......Cole
Ronaldo.......Kaka.......Muamba......Nani
..............Rooney.......Tevez.......
Kaka and Tevez are out of favour so I am sure it will be easy to get them.
Come on Eddie Davies show some ambition you old fool!

I was going to say, if we're having a post about players we can't afford or attract, let's just buy a time machine, go back to 1995 and bid 25m for Paolo Maldini. Sorted.
Why would Johnson and Dann join us? We're shíte. How much would they cost? At least 20M for the pair, we' haven't got two pennies to rub together...and then they couldn't play anyway because they've already played for 2 clubs in the past year.
Why would we buy a new keeper when the one we have is fine.
Stephen Ireland is on about 70k a week. Hargreaves had the chance to join shíte clubs in the summer and chose Man City for a reason.
Hleb did fcúk all at Birmingham.
Zamora's old, silly wages and would probably cost over 5M.
Oh, and why in this fantasy team of players we can't afford does Steinsson still keep his place?

We have a dozen or so players out of contract this year and TBF I wouldn't mind too much if they all went. As far as replacements go, it's clear that the "OC long-term plan" is to buy young affordable players as opposed to proven players on big wages. The problem is that the rich clubs have first option on just about any talent in the world from when they are a foetus. The ony place I think we might have some leverage is in the States as we've toured there and we currently have Mr Stuart Holden at the club who could be a big influence. With 55 million Yanks playing regularly, the huge investment in development from an early age etc it's not inconceivable that America will produce a string of talented youngsters that we could tap in to.
If I was a betting man, I'd have my money on OC looking across the pond for signings.

Stephen Ireland - Have you seen his performances for Villa ? if ever a player had settled for cash over career it is him. Complete waste of his talent unless someone can get him started again. we don't have the time.
Thought I had wandered onto a fantasy football topic.
