We've had the debate before about bringing back standing areas at the football. The SPL are going to allow their teams to reintroduce standing areas. What does everyone think? I think it's a good idea and would welcome the Barclays Premier League doing the same.

I find it hard to watch the match when people are standing up in front of me.

I don't get all this standing up nonsense. Why stand up when you've paid good money for a seat to sit on? I refuse to believe people genuinely think it makes the experience more enjoyable/bearable.

Thanks for reading,

Gloria.

Standing up makes me feel like I am in Football Factory.

If they had a dedicated standing section with cheaper seats it might attract more fans.  I just don't see us having the resources to rennovate the Reebok though so what's the point.

I prefer to stand watching football. If I go to the park to watch a team play and there is a bench there - nobody sits on it. People just like standing. And somehow - don't ask me why - standing makes people chant and sing more and for a lot of fans being a apart of that makes the experience more enjoyable.

You must have been to away games and stood up and been part of an electric atmosphere and come away feeling ace. And also come away wishing you came home from the Reebok feeling that good. Well a standing area can only help.

They're going to have entire areas where everyone is stood up though. So you'd be stood up aswell if you chose to go in that area. It wouldn't be like it is now where some people want to sit but the people in front are standing up. Surely this would make it better for everyone if we had the choice?

When did you start watching us? Did you ever go to Burnden Park? I stood up every game back then and it was miles better than it is now having to sit at the Reebok.

Ohh I see, my bad Dave. Thought it was a rule to say could stand up anywhere. If there's a section for it, then fair enough.

No I think they're going to remove the seats in certain areas. Hopefully when it works in Scotland it'll force the people in charge down here to have a think about it.

As a season ticket holder I'm stuck with those who sit around me.  Having a standing area allows, for example, my dad to come to the odd match with me and stand with me, rather than have to sit on his own.

Say what you like, but atmospheres at grounds declined as soon as all-seaters became the law.

If ticketless scousers hadn't headed down to South Yorkshire all those years ago there wouldn't have been a problem.

This.

I don't know how people can say that sitting down for the majority of the match is in anyway enjoyable. If you feel any kind of passion for the game it compels you to stand up and soak up the atmosphere, it's not the ballet FFS.

Is this because you're still sitting in your seat, or because evolution dealt you a poor hand?

You sit or stand anywhere you want in scottish football because the grounds are empty.

even when the "Glasgow giants" come to town the grounds are just half full.

I think it's about time standing sections were brought back. Obviously only certain areas that way if people want to have their seat they can go in the relevant section. I don't think there can be the type of disasters as have happened in the past aslong as you regulate how many people are allowed into a terrace. I've ordered my tickets for Macclesfield on a terrace and I genuinely can't wait.

I've only ever been on the terraces at Bury, Fulham and Yeovil but the atmosphere is just better and people seem more relaxed and at ease with one another.

I think its a bloody stupid idea. Standing is rubbish, you really feel the weight on your legs come the second half.
What about short arses, they won't be able to see anything all game, that can't be good.
I am with Gloria, I don't see how it makes the experience any better by standing. You wouldn't go to the cinema and stand. If you're in a pub you don't like to have to stand.
I always feel like I am going to get pick pocketed when standing at the football. A silly idea from a silly nation.

You don't go to games anyway so its not like it matters much to you.

I disagree in a pub aswell to be honest, unless I'm eating I prefer to stand. Admittedly against something like a bar but I feel too relaxed if I'm sat down. As for the cinema the major difference here is that ... it isn't going to the cinema. What cinema did you ever go where you sung chants and focussed on a big rectangular area of grass lit up by bright floodlights?

They can go in the seating area and sit down then can't they. Or stand at the front.

Like Sharps said, you don't go the game so have little knowledge about this subject.

Stick to talking shíte about suit cases you Jimmy Nail sounding twat.

Are you taking the piss?

When you go to the cinema you have to sit there in silence... a bit like being at the Reebok actually.

Villa set to have a 'safe standing area' if plans go ahead.

Liverpool's allocation at the Reebok is decreasing year on year because their fans won't sit down. It's a problem that has impacted on a few visiting teams this season.

It would be good to see the plans approved but I'm 99% sure they won't.
