Following Sunderland's win over Blackburn this afternoon, the Premier League's bottom five now looks like this.

PosTeamPtsGD
16Sunderland140
17Wolves14-12
18Wigan12-15
19Blackburn10-12
20Bolton9-16

Barring some sort of miracle combination of results over the next 10 days, we will be spending Christmas in the bottom three.

Next weekend, Wigan are at home to Chelsea, Blackburn are at home to West Brom and we travel to Fulham.

The following Wednesday, Wigan host Liverpool, while Blackburn and Bolton face off at Ewood Park.

In 20 years, only one side has managed to stay up after being bottom at Christmas. I think Blackburn will beat West Brom but Wigan will lose both home games, meaning a win for us at either Fulham or Blackburn will see Wigan go bottom.

Where do you think we'll be in the league on Christmas Day?

19th - not that it will stop us being relegated anyway. I think it is now too late to stop us going down thanks to Coyle's total inability to stop the rot.

Already 5 points away;

if we lose against Blackburn then forget it; there just isn't enough games i can see us even drawing to make that up.

We will probably be bottom yeah.

We will be bottom, it saddens me on two counts, the obvious one I don't want us to become a championship side, and also I really wanted Owen Coyle to succeed,  Sad

If Coyle is still in charge we will be bottom. If Kevin Davies takes over (with Campo and Jay Jay as coaches) we will be bottom. If a random Blind Amputee with hearing difficulties takes over, maybe 19th.

I realised half an hour before the Villa game started that we can't stay up with Coyle.
We've got one strategy and that is to hoof it up to Davies all match long. I believed that eventually Coyle would notice what's obviously wrong with this tactic, but if he hasn't noticed it yet, he won't ever.

Thanks for reading,

Gloria.

We can always look back on the first day of the season when we were top of the league. Didn't think we would have amassed as little as 6 more points after those first 3

We will be 20th, and sad to say, once Cahill goes in January whats going to happen to the defence then ? Its not just this season, but the run in at the end of last season is where it started and we have done nothing to change that slide.
I wanted Coyle to come good too.
We have 23 games to get 30 points - thats 10 wins ..not going to happen.

I do think 10 wins is within our capabilities, but not with Coyle and his band of merry men at the helm, yes to Coyle staying, and I make no apologies for going over old ground, but the club needs to get rid of his useless Burnley clingons, replace them all with one experienced coach........ ahem .......... Peter Reid, or the wally with a brolly, and we stand half a chance, and Coyle can pick up the finer details of management from the experienced coach. If for whatever reason Coyle disagrees to this action then fcúk him let him resign win win all around.

As others have pointed out I don't think there is any chance of Coyle working with a "big name" coach such as Reid or McClaren. Personally I don't think this would be a solution even if it was tried and thankfully neither Reid nor McClaren have any role in our future.

Ok so on what grounds do you discount either two being an improvement on this shower of sh1t we currently have?, only asking like.

It is difficult to see McClaren as a motivator given his track record and although I have no doubt about Reid's passion (and swearing) I think it is tactical awareness as much as motivation we need at the moment.

Turning it around, why do you think these two would make a difference?

Sadly that is the most dissapointing thing about it, we have such a poor set of players to choose from at the moment even if coyle was to get sacked I can't see any manager being able to get enough out of them to keep us up.

You're dreaming. No manager is going to agree to removing the backroom staff he chose in favour of an experienced man like Reid or McLaren.

Would you Martin? You arrive for work tomorrow and your boss has brought in Julian Clary to help you improve the running of the Crocodile Club. Would you be happy to pick up tips from Mr Clary or would it undermine your position with the 4-8 year olds?

He then has two choices, accept it as neccesary, or quit. Julian Clary would'nt stand a chance over here the mincing bastard.
