Something happened to me at Tottenham Hotspur. My feelings for Owen Coyle changed.

I was lucky enough to be invited into a corporate box by a Spurs supporting friend which gave me access to the bar afterwards. In that bar were several celebs (like me), footballers, Harry Redknapp and Owen Coyle.

When I arrived in the bar Harry Redknapp was already in there, deep in conversation with his wife (I presume). 20 minutes later Owen Coyle, Gartside and one or two others from the Bolton backroom wandered in. Now, have you ever watched ‘An American Werewolf In London’ and seen that bit of the film where the two American backpackers walk into the pub on the Moors and everyone stops talking and turns to stare at them? Well, it was just like that when Coyle walked into the bar yesterday.

I looked at him and very, very briefly our eyes met. I looked deep into his eyes and all I saw was shame and embarrassment. In truth, I’ve always thought of managers and players as arrogant pricks who only care about the amount of zeros on their payslips, so to see our manager hurting like a fan made me feel guilty for all the shite I’ve thrown his way in the last few weeks.

Believe me, when he sat down with Redknapp he looked a defeated man, but he also looked like a man who had been badly let down. And that’s the point of this thread. Yes, Coyle is tactically clueless and has made some pisspoor signings but it’s still the players who should be taking the majority of our shite. How can Coyle be blamed for Gary Cahill having the control of a 23 stone granny, how can Coyle be blamed for Jussi dropping to his knees like he’s a Shifnall Street hooker, and how can Owen Coyle be blamed for the fact the whole team can’t shoot straight?

Yes, he picked them and in some cases signed them, but all these players have performed to a decent standard under a previous Bolton manager or some other team and all of a sudden they can’t even do the basics a 10 year old schoolboy would be expected to have mastered. That is not Owen Coyle’s fault.

So shut the fcuk up moaning at Coyle and blame these so called professional footballers for our current predicament. Never forget that Fabrice Muamba is earning more in a week than the average man earns in a year. Never, ever forget that.

So for the next week give Owen Coyle your support. Shout and scream for the team for the full 90 minutes against Villa, and if we end up losing and Coyle gets the push, don’t forget we’ll still be stuck with the overpaid, underachieving players that have so badly let Coyle, and the fans, down at every opportunity.

If people had seen the look on his face no one would be on here abusing him.

Sure, he isn't upto the job and should be sacked in the morning....but while he is here we should show him some respect and perhaps abuse the players a bit more.

You won't be saying that when I become the second Mrs Coyle. I definitely sensed a connection.

Was this your favourite celebrity meet up? Or is it still meeting Megson in a UK pub while he was abroad or Deano in the Jacuzzi? Or maybe big sams indiscretion?

I like this one personally, touching and heartfelt with a real message.

Natasha has it spot on, whilst whether I believe her anecdote, I do not know, however the fact of the matter is, its the players being absolute idiots getting sent off at ridiculous moments in ridiculous circumstances and doing terrible decisions god knows how many times that cost us.  i do think his team selection was bad, however maybe he thought with a pit of positivity the team may get a kick up the arse.  Either way, im confident for the villa game, I dont know why, I just see it as a turning point for our season.

Come on you whites, in Owen we trust.

Coyle has the tactical nous of an Italian Army General.

As soon as the going gets tough, our lads wave the white flag.
