The current Bolton team has about as much fight as Ray Moss at a tranny convention.
However, it wasn't always like that. There was a time when the team had a bit of spirit and being a goal or two down wasn't game over.
So what are your favourite Bolton comebacks?
Two come to me instantly. The first was being 2-1 down at Burnley in 1994 with only 9 men after we had one sent off and Nicky Spooner stretchered off with a broken leg (John Gayle you tw*t). After the incident, rather than return the ball to Burnley as they'd had the ball, John McGinlay threw the ball to a Bolton player, the ball went out for a corner from which Bolton equalised. Anyone who was there will remember the delight!
My second favourite comeback was our first game back in the Premiership (was it 1997?) when we were 2-0 down at Coventry. Colin Todd brought Peter Beardsley on for his debut and we pulled it back to 2-2 with a brace from Nathan Blake.
Great memories.

I think it's sad that I'm struggling to remember a single comeback.

Birmingham at home last season with 10 men and 2 goals behind?

I loved the comeback at Wigan in Great Sam's last few weeks when they couldn't handle Anelka's pace and Diouf's trickery. For the first 40 minutes it looked as though hard working Wigan would get the better of us again but the Great man's team finally put them in their place.
The only time i've seen us come back from 3 behind was Notts County in 88/89 but that was tinged with a bit of frustration because we missed a great chance to get the winner late on.

Martin has already named the best one. Reading at Wembley was the greatest game ever.
Another good one was against Leicester when we'd had Holdsworth and Warhurst sent off for fouls on Robbie Savage. 2-0 down until Nolan got the first back and then Ricketts scored in the last minute to make it 2-2.
Coming back from 3-1 down at Blackburn to win 4-3 was a good'n too.

Reading was number one, but my next fave was Everton in the cup 2-0 down with about 20 mins left when Zico came on and took over, from memory McGinley, OC both scored and we won 3-2 in extra time

The Everton one is a good shout. Barlow got two for them before McGinlay and Stubbs scored to take it to extra time. David Lee, shining like a....light, set up Owen Coyle for the winner. Great night.

I fondly remember the Lokomotiv Plovdiv comeback in our first UEFA Cup match. 1-0 down, Plovdiv players faking injury until Nolan refuses to kick the ball out. Nolan passes to Hunt, Hunt crosses for Diouf to score with a stunning diving header. Borgetti then strikes with a 90th minute (offside?) winner.

I still get goosebumps to this day thinking about our 4-3 win at Blackburn in 03/04.
I have nothing against Blackburn but at that time, there'd been several recent occasions where we'd fooked up a lead against them.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.

Borgetti should have been a legend.
If he had been given more games and was kept here longer I think he may have been. I imagine he would have been more prolific in front of goal than Klasnic.

He was a lot like Klasnic wasn't he. Fat Sam paid £1m for Borgetti and hardly gave the guy a chance - not dissimilar to Coyle and his signings. Why buy a player and not back him?

£1million for someone with that quality? I know we were losing that game but I actually cried watching thinking we used to have a team that good not so long ago......just look at us now.

Thanks to all previous posters for cheering me up. All great comebacks but the best has to be against Reading at Wembley. To be 2-0 down after 12 minutes and then concede a penalty after half an hour and not even get our first goal until Coyle scored in the 75th minute! Happy days.

Hull City away was a good one. Stubbs sent off (I think it was him) for handling on the line, they scored the resulting penalty. We then scored two goals and had a few pitch invasions. That set us up for the home win on the last day of the season which sent us up and Preston down.
Forest at home was a good one. I think we won 4-3 in the end aswell. Makes up for the 3-0 up at Watford at half time and then losing 4-3 !

I thoroughly enjoyed the 3-2 win over Villa last season. Went behind twice, the gave away a penalty (saved by Jussi), Cahill scored a great goal, and Klasnic got the late winner.

It was Stubbs who got sent off. Dean Windass scored the penalty for them and then scored an own goal before Super John McGinlay got the winner. Great game. We then beat Stoke, who went up as champions, before beating Preston on the last day of the season to get promoted. Forest at home was a good one. I think we won 4-3 in the end aswell. Makes up for the 3-0 up at Watford at half time and then losing 4-3 !
Collymore and David Phillips put Forest 2-0 up before David Lee pulled one back just before half time. Alan Thompson then scored his first ever goal for us to make it 2-2 in the second half. Collymore scored his second to make it 3-2 to them before David Lee got his second to make it 3-3. Mark Patterson scored the winner near the end. Great game.

I thought Borgetti was treated very unfairly. He was a victim of the same curse as Klasnic and Anelka: if you're a striker at Bolton who scores goals, people think you must be lazy.
