I didn't think his impact was that big even in our 5-0 win over Stoke but for argument's sake we're going to say here that he played excellently. When was the last time he strung two passable performances together?

Admittedly, we're making progress in that we're twelve games in and he's started just ten and been substituted early in a few and many of us never thought we'd see the day when Owen Coyle recognised that our captain is actually more of a stumbling block in the team than an indispensable force who's simply undroppable.

But Coyle is yet to give playing without Davies a fair go. He's tried it a couple of times, and because it hasn't brought immediate results, Davies has come swinging back into the team the following game, and his returning performance has been enough to keep him in the side for a further several games until again Coyle feels obliged to try something different and the cycle starts all over again.

Why don't we leave him out for a trial period of three games? What's the worst that could happen? I'm sure we won't completely go to pieces without our clumsy, pushing, shoving, number 14 for a few games.

Thanks for reading,

Gloria.

They are based in Manchester now and had Jason Roberts last week, expect somebody from all of the North West clubs to tip up each week.

Dutchy is on next week. I can't wait to see him rip Alan Hansen a new one.

Coyle got it all wrong with Davies yesterday.  In the first half, when we were actually moving the ball decently, Davies was a hindrance.  When we were desperate for a goal and hoofing the ball, Davies was already off the pitch.  Stupid.

Its a waste of time playing high balls even when Davies is on the pitch. He doesn't win them anymore. He just flattens the defender who's challenging for the ball with him, concedes a free kick and turns to the referee to give him a simple look.

zzzzzzzzzzzz

I must say I am tiring of LG going "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" or "what a load of rubbish". If you have nothing to offer then feck off back to Bolton Banter where they think you are funny.

This site is only as good as the members make it, it might be time to run you out of town.

probably about as much that was needed for you to come up with "Le bog" oh and put "thanks for reading" at the end of every post, very funny by the way.

All I'll say is what a different Kevin Davies has been. He looks motivated, hungry, determined. He knows how important it is for us to pick up points and he's leading by example. He's the Kevin Dacies of old again.

Long may it continue.

He did help change the game.  The substitution was inspired by Coyle.  Shame he's not been this influential throughout the whole season.

He really helped us see out the clock too, his experience was invaluable there.

I don't think we're going to get 90 minutes from Davies anymore so the question is whether we want to start him or have him come off the bench.  I vote for the latter.  He's going to be much more effective trying to batter tired center halves.

Yes I was pleased for him, his confidence must have been at an all time low but when SKD plays well the team plays well, Sadly not to often these days, Come on Kev you aint finished yet, prove us all wrong.

SKD has been playing well for a while now. He bagged a goal against Tottenham in the Cup and then Wolves and has played well in every game since then now. It's not like it's come out of nowhere. He's really stepped up his performances recently and seems more like the SKD of old. More of the same please

Tbf most of the team were dross against Swansea from what I heard (I didn't watch the Swansea match). He bagged a goal against Spurs, changed the game completely against Wolves when we were playing terribly and his hold up and link play against Newcastle was decent despite the fact we lost. And bar one dreadful pass out to the left wing, he played ok against Fulham. It's a nice change to see him playing well though rather than the poor performances we've seen from him this year

I'll gladly hold my hand up on this one. I thought he was a liability and was holding us back. But I witnessed his performance against Spurs where I thought he was excellent and deserved his goal. Is it me or has his game changed? He seems less gung ho and more inclined to play a short passing game now? If so I applaud him for making a transition. If I'm right then actually he could prove a pretty effective sub for us, someone who can not only be a target man to ease the pressure on our defence, but a decent cog in a passing game to keep possession and thread balls to runners. Fair play SKD - I hope we're right here and you make a decent contribution to our fight for survival.

I think S.K.D is needed in the box for corners we could do with smashing a few headers home.S.K.D combined with Wheater will cause real problems in the box, I'm sick of not making the most of our set pieces.

I think Coyle's decision not to sell Davies has been vindicated, been a key player of late and his experience in this relegation fight is pivotal. Just needs to be utilised correctly now as I don't think he has 90 minutes in him.

Will he keep him for next season though?Id get rid of Robbie Blake and Klasnic first.
