Aside from what a remarkable job he did at BWFC and what a set of arsewipes the Bolton supporters are, the main topic of the ginger bugger's opening press conferences as Sheffield Wednesday manager was the importance of getting away from the big club label. Its a League One club and thats the reality of things and its important to accept that and get on with it, Megson told the cameras.
This season he's genuinely struggled to resist reminding the football world that despite being in the third tier of English football and not having been in the top tier for over a decade, Sheffield Wednesday are absolutely ginormous. He excelled himself in September by telling the Sun, "No matter what team it is, we are everybody's biggest challenge. I'd imagine it's akin to the Premier League when everyone is looking forward to playing Manchester United. I don't care which team it was, as soon as the fixture list came out they would have been looking for when they're playing Wednesday. We are the big draw." He was at it again last week, stating that "Morecambe have got the draw that I'm sure they would have wanted."
The irony is (no doubt Gary hasn't seen it), if the Sheffield Wednesday of today bared any more resemblence to the illustrious Sheffield Wednesday of the past that has made it one of the more iconic clubs in English football, than the fact that they've got a big ground, a big following and they play in blue and white, the club would not have touched Gary Megson with a barge-pole.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.

No more embarrassing than fans that can't let it go.

I'm happier to have an obsessive hatred for a previous manager than a current one.

A curious thing about the stance Gary has taken is that despite Sheffield Wednesday behind a huge club and Bolton being a small club that should have been delighted to not get relegated, Bolton actually had bigger crowds when Gary was insulting the support base than Sheffield Wednesday do now while Gary is continually saying how great they are and what a big club they support.

I don't understand why we're still caught up with this. That's the only embarrassing thing.

What will be embarrassing is if we get relegated and Wednesday get promoted!

It would be bad if Megson couldn't get a club with Wednesday's transfer market power out of League One.
They're a complete bulldozer of a team. There are tougher times ahead for them.

We all know he can have some impact in the short term, especially when given fuckloads of money, but he has no chance of ever taking a club forward over, say, a five year period

With Bolton being as shíte as they are, my only footballing satisfaction of a weekend these days comes from the failure of other teams. Topping this list of teams whose misery I revel in by a country mile is Gary Megson's gigantic Sheffield Wednesday. Bad days for them are more few and far between than they once were, but they still come around often enough, and when they do they give Gary chances to be embarrassing. I thought I'd share it with you that Wednesday fooked it up in stoppage time again today and Megson cited 'Off-field problems' as whats to blame. What 'Off-field problems' do we think he's referring to? Kim Jong-il's death, Iraq, Afghanistan? Can't he find himself a job where things are as straight-forward as they are for the other 91 league managers?
You'll all tell me you've moved on but I won't believe you, and you'll tell me I need to move on too and I won't care, nor will I take any notice.
Thanks for reading,
Gloria.

Blimey, I looked a few mins from time and saw them 1-0 up, haha that's funny they lost in injury time. People seem to always say 'let it go' when people talk about Megson, but the fact is Megson still talks about Bolton. Last time I saw him on Goals on Sunday he couldn't talk enough about his time at Bolton. To be honest, I think Gary Megson is tactically a better manager than Megson. I just think Megson was a poor man manager and was not a likeable person.

I get fúck all satisfaction from Megson losing a game.
Especially when we've just lost.

I don't really get any satisfaction from Megson losing since I almost never bother to look up his results. But I'm not going to tell you to "get over it" since our problems are still largely - though not entirely - down to him.

An away day trip to Hillsborough will be one of the few highlights next season if we go down and they go up.
Happy memories of our last game there. Especially as I went with a Sheff Weds fan and was signing "Can we play you every week" and "We only need ten men" to him ALL the way back to his house in Mottram.
