Spot on Gaz. They have wannabe Z listers from Big Brother as their role models. They wipe out entire platoons of terrorists on their computer games and think they are big. Give them a gun and a uniform and tell them to get to Afghanistan and kill some real terrorists and they will end up with a shitstain in their designer jockey shorts.
Way to go tarring everybody with the same brush.

Sharps, if playing on games stops you from producing any more offspring, you go ahead.

Video games have helped the younger generation become illiterate mugs, but that is not the sole issue. I partly blame education. They don't learn the skills of life. They moan about having to do any sort of work, show large amounts of disrespect to teachers and even the most of the "brighter" ones seem to be thick. An example I've witnessed is a kid moaning about feeling sick, and instead of having a drink of water, he took a swig of a bloody milkshake! And that was somebody in a top set. I'm seriously concerned about the future, it and the people who will be adults, don't look very bright.

The teachers hands are tied with bureaucracy and red tape. Lay a hand on an unruly pupil and they cry assault. There is no discipline. The very fabric of our society has been undermined by do gooders, and naughty children are now labelled as having special educational needs. Thirty years ago, no-one ever mentioned ADHD or Aspergers syndrome. Nowadays it has become a cottage industry. This current generation of ne'r do wells will spawn another identical ' couldn't care less ' generation within the next ten years. The sink estates will be full of them. The taxpayers will be expected to dig even deeper so that the government can invest in affordable housing. The green belt areas will gradually be eroded and this green and pleasant land will only be remembered by those with a sense of nostalgia.
On the plus side, I wont be around to witness it.

If a teacher was to hit a pupil, they'd be sacked within the hour. It's a disgrace. If a child deserves to be punished, they should be punished, not given a 1 hour detention. Will they learn anything from that? Will they feck. But I don't think they'd do whatever they did again if they got a crack around their head. Probably not. Will it do the pupil any permanent damage? Not at all. Therefore, should teachers be able to use force to get pupils to behave? Very much so.

I was speaking hypothetically in case it turns out that the Mayans were just a bunch of crackpot, nutjob, headcases. You have to keep an open mind about these kind of things.

Have to agree. They do say actions speak louder than words.

Hitting kids because they're not doing what you want them to isn't setting the best example really.

Definitely not the computer/console games - in fact the blame fairly lies with the parents.
Set number of hours a day to use the games/consoles but there also has to be the same set of amount of time for children to be with other children either outside in a park, in an official youth-club (like the Bolton Boys and Girls Club) or after school or even in gyms wherte they organise such events.
Parents such not let their children pester them - children can be disciplined - even if its not with a smack!
