Come on guys, put an end to this. We lose enough posters over petty little squabbles on here. This hasn't got anything to do with the original thread so if this continues I'll be shutting it down.

Ferdinand has been asked to shake hands with Terry at the QPR match. Haven't we been here before? It'll be pisss funny if he does a Wayne Bridge on him, that was timing comedy gold. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16700503.stm

Terry should release a press release with him hugging a black man, that worked so well for Blatter. Anybody have Tokyo Sexwales number?

So, QPR and Chelsea agreed to wholesalely do away with the traditional pre-match handshake to diffuse tensions before the match.
Utter shít IMO. lf they can't behave like gentlemen for a few seconds pre-match what hope have they not to kick fúck out of each other for 90 minutes?

I think the whoel handshake crap should be stopped anyway. What's the point? Does anyone actually think it makes any difference to how the players will behave twards one another during the 90 mins?
I'm sure that Terry and Ferdinand shook hands before the game at Loftus Rd all those weeks ago, just as Suarez and Evra shook hands.
Shake hands at the end of a game, not at the beginning. That would be a far bigger show of respect for one another.

I thought they did it as part of the whole 'respect' campaign that has been a huge failure by The FA.

It's tradition, l like tradition.
Although I like the idea of shaking hands at the end of the game, could lead to some classic punch ups.

You're quite right, that is exactly why they do it. It's a farce though and means nothing as I pointed out with the two incidents above.
Again, as above, what better message could be put across to fans about respect than players all lining up to shake hands ... rather than chasing after the ref as usually happens.

This whole hand-shaking lark is not a tradition. It is something that was dreamt up by Blatter, Platini and the other usless Fifa cretins - and has to be endorsed wholly by each governing FA, along with the Macdonalds sponsered having a young child with each player as they come out - just to show "respect".
For me I think its just a complete time-wasting money grabbing (of which none of the money is given to the teams or given to grass roots football) peice of theatre. What respect, if any, does it actually show?

The FA have now said that the pre match handshake will go ahead in the United Liverpool match as not doing it would negate the whole process.
How is that different from QPR when the Terry incident hadn't even been fully investigated?

The FA got wind that Ferdinand wasn't going to shake Terry's hand.
