I'm sure there are loads of threads about who's been the best this/best that - I remember having a whole load of "Best No. 4" etc - but have we ever devised a Burnden Aces best X1 from the Rioch era until now - based on votes?

Might be good to do to stimulate some debate - was thinking about this yesterday - and found it really hard to come up with a left-back other than The Mole, and found midfield really hard due to the number of quality players.

Wonder if one of the Mods fancy managing this?

Like the team Sharps, not too dissimilar to mine - but really want to find a place for Frandsen...

Having the mods run some polls on GK, RB, LB, CB and getting members to vote with their feet sounds interesting for me - I find it really hard to distinguish between my favourites (McGinlay, Walker etc) and real world class players like Anelka...

I suppose if you choose with your head rather than your heart certain players like Anelka, Okocha and Djorkaeff have to be there but I chose a bit with head and heart hence why Super John , David Lee and Mcateer are in mine.

Sellars? He was alright and scored that goal at City but he was the biggest pussy ever to pull on a Bolton shirt. He makes Petrov look like a tough tackler.

You are just trying to be different with the majority of that line up, I expect a line up of Jardel and Cid to come from NW later on.

Why?

They're all top players, but I could make about five teams from all those I've seen and not come to a decision.

Cox and Charlton - best full backs we've had in ages
Bergsson - no contest
Johansen - brilliant
Sellars - love him and his left peg

Get real, the guy was different class. The best passer of a ball we've ever had.

Good one.

We've never had a decent right back, in his "prime" he was the best of a very bad bunch.

Neil Cox. Could defend and good going forward. The complete package.

Awful defender who couldn't cross to save his life.

I'm very busy workwise for the next few weeks to do it myself but if you or anyone else wants to put up some polls then feel free to do so.

It's really easy to do - simply click on the 'Post New Poll' link (immeadiately to the right of the post 'New Topic' link - and off you go.

Go on, you know you want too!

How many games did Candela play for us? About 10 or something? He was alright but nothing special for us imo.

Same with Hierro really. He did alright and was one of the best passers I've ever seen. He only played 20 something games though and was the second slowest player, after Jardel, I've ever seen.

I thought Candela was quality, I remember that pearler he hit that struck the bar.
