COYWM!

« on: 06 November 2011, 07:44 PM »

I thought he had a superb debut today, and looked better than Steinsson, despite a 9 year age gap. Here's an interview with him after the match: http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/General/0,,1004~2508072,00.html

He seems like a down to earth modest lad, and I think he should start against West Brom. What do you think?

I was a bit wary of sarting him today after what I saw of him against Macc in the league cup, but bravo sir that was a top notch performance.

He isn't the best in the air but he isn't afraid to get stuck in and have a run with the ball.

Also he looked to have better posisitional sense than most of our right backs, Steinsson especially.

Great league debut. He's earned his place in the team for the next game imo.

Much better posistional sense than hunt from what I saw of him.

Good at getting forward and can put in a good ball.

Lets not get too carried away it is only one game but he handled it very well and looked a decent prospect, Coyle did the right thing by taking him off so that he could get the ovation he deserved so it makes him hungrier for it in the future.

Agreed, nice touch.

I was so pleased for Riley, right back has obviously been a problem for us so for him so come in and do as well as he did is a huge help.  A little lacking in the air but he tackled bravely, and knew when to get forward and when to stay back.

A few more games like that, we can send Boyata home and save some money.

Personally, I think left back is the biggest problem. Whilst Robinson might give 100% he is still a Donkey, and Gardner is past it.

Aarons, I thought Riley had a good game against Macclesfield. I watched him pre season and he looked very composed. He is only 20 but he looks a damn sight better than Alonso ( our left back heir apparent ).

Robbo got cover from Eagles yesterday, which is something he never gets from Petrov. Between now and the January window we need to be looking for proper cover.

Yep i was also impressed with the young lad yesterday. Bit of pace, good positioning, got stuck in well and also got forward and delivered a couple of deadly crosses.

Hats off to Coyle for taking a risk with him.

Anybody know if we have a decent left back in the reserves/youth team?

Blakeman but he's better in midfield.
Andy Kellett is 17 and quite talented.

Agree with this. He had a good game but we've been here before with the likes of Nicky Hunt and Joey O'Brien. Whether he gets a run in the team when Boyata and Ricketts are back with us is up to Coyle, but he certainly deserves to start at West Brom.

He had a good game yesterday but let's see how he handles the pressure when things are going against us and the inevitable criticism is directed his way.

The kiss of death? After a performance that showed a reading of the game and positional sense way beyond his years I can't see any comparison to Nicky H. I just hope I'm not expecting too much from the lad, but after that game I am hoping for a lot.

I saw a lot of people on twitter questioning Riley starting - giving it the big one.

Surprised you saw anything on twitter other than what Stuart Holden is doing.

It was a spiffing performance from the young lad and I'd like to think that the supporters continue to show him the support that every player of that age needs.

Thanks for reading,

Gloria.
