Ok let's kick off the rumours with this one - a 16 year old kid for God's sake - how desperate is Coyle if this story is true - does he intend to play a team made up entirely of wingers?? Bolton Wanderers are hoping to take Liverpool duo Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan on-loan in the January transfer window. Manager Owen Coyle is desperate for new recruits to salvage his team’s season after two wins all season has left his side second bottom. Winger Sterling, 16, is one of the most highly-rated teenagers in England and Coyle insists he can help the teenager’s development in the same way he has done for Jack Wilshere and Daniel Sturridge. The England U17 international is yet to make his first-team debut and following the Reds summer recruitment drive is unlikely to feature this season. Defender Flanagan, 18, has made nine appearances for the Reds so far but as Glen Johnson and Martin Kelly are now fit his chances of any action is greatly reduced. Coyle is in need of a right-back with major doubts arising over Paul Robinson and the injury to Tyrone Mears. Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is willing to let the youngsters go on-loan to give them first-team experience but this may change by the new year depending on injury and form of his current regulars. http://www.caughtoffside.com/2011/10/31/bolton-line-up-january-double-swoop-for-liverpool-starlets/

I think the Sterling story is just old news. He was linked with us in the summer but said he couldn't go on loan as he was 16 and you have to be 17. http://www.burndenaces.co.uk/news/liverpool_starlet_plays_down_speculation_1967He turns 17 in December so I think that article is just pure speculation. As for Flanagan, he's played a few games for the first team and done alright by all accounts. We're struggling in that position at the moment so let's see if anything comes from it. Too early to read into the speculation for me though.

Yeah. He should get a few games before we bring in another kid on loan.

How many loans are you allowed?
we'd have 2 (tuncay, Boyata) maybe we extend kakuta thats 3 plus 2 Liverpool "starlets" thats five.
there's no way that story is complete and utter cack though so we're gonna have to cancel some loans!
exciting.

Elmander on loan anyone?
I very much doubt Galatasaray will let him go, he's their top scorer with 4 goals in 7 starts. He probably wouldn't want to come back here anyway.

I'd sooner Andy Walker came back to the club, he looks like he's kept himself in shape.

I think I know the answer. A club can only have two players on loan from the English league during the whole season - that is two for a season each - or one for a season and two others doing half a season each - or four different players doing half a season each. The players registration is retained by the loanees 'mother' club. However with players from foreign teams, the players registration is 'transferred' during the loan period - for which a 'fee' is paid - and as such the player in a sense become 'our' player whilst he is with us - but returns (with his registration) to his original club at the expiry of the 'loan' deal. So in theory we can have as many loan players from foreign teams as we like - HOWEVER there is some rule that states there can only be a certain amount of 'loan' players in the team (or is it squad?) at anyone time.

Hello all, I would suggest that bringing in Raheem Sterling could be a great piece of business. As a player of Jamaican ancestry who has played in the academies of QPR and Liverpool for eight years he is gifted with pace, trickery and agility, which is why Liverpool could potentially pay £5 million for him. He will be 17 in January and that is not an unusual age to play on the flanks, look at the likes of Bale, Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain who debuted at this age, whilst there was a 15 year old playing in the lower leagues this weekend. Physical development may be far greater for teenagers nowadays. If you see his five goals against Southend, he looks a great finisher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER6S2tCkY0M although obviously a youth game, also he he is an England under 18 international. Flanagan has played eight games for Liverpool including games v Arsenal and Tottenham and looks assured and confident on the ball, certainly he has more to offer than some of our fullbacks. I wouldn't be disappointed to see either join, you can knock Owen Coyle continually if you want, I certainly would just for Stoke on its own, never mind Norwich and Swansea but I think he's on the right track here. A bit of youthful enthusiasm in an ageing squad of 30+ year olds could inspire them and us. Best Regards Mark

Sterling was playing yesterday and he didn't look any better than Obadeyi but he is much younger so.
I guess your talking about a loan - i'd rather we had a managed to train our own players properly, rather than just loaning other teams who've managed to train kids some technical skill.

Sky have us in for some young Italian, Marco Capuano, never heard of him, but looks like Coyle is looking at youth over experience.

Can't see why he would be looking at youth at the moment if the current form is showing that he may not have long enough at the helm to do anything with the players he develops. I'd be more worried about staying in the premier league

I watched the reserve game against Liverpool last week. He looked half decent.
All the other times I've seen him he's been poor. I doubt he'll ever make it with us tbh.
