GARY Cahill reckons he has never had it tougher at the Reebok.

“It has been the hardest start to a season I have ever been involved in,”

And England international Cahill – who joined the club in the midst of a bitter relegation battle in January 2008 – believes the situation the club currently find themselves in could be just as urgent if they do not find an immediate remedy to their poor form.

Sounds worse than when you know who was in charge!  Shocked

Personally I think Cahill lost all focus on playing for us over the summer and not getting the move he wanted made things worse.

I don't think he's lost focus; it gets harder to give a shíte though when the goals start pouring in.

it's like seeing death on the news, you desensitise.

Wheater has looked better than Cahill for the last two games imo.

Time for him to pay us back for turning him into an international footballer. Before he fúcks off in January.

Trotters defender admits confidence is flagging at Reebok: -

Cahill is unhappy with the workload being heaped on Bolton's defenders after succumbing to another attacking display against Sunderland.

"When you are under pressure, there is only so much you can head out and defend," he said.

He's starting to sound like Alan Stubbs did when he thought he was better than he actually was.

Cahill has been rubbish this season.

Perhaps if he played like an international player we might stop letting so many in.

When we've been in relegation battles before the great players have stepped forward. Not seen that from Cahill.

I think his head was turned in summer, he's gutted he didn't get his big move.

Wheater has looked very solid in the last two games though.

I actually got worried during the summer thinking we would have a back 2 of Knight and Wheater this season but to be honest we couldn't do much worse than what we are doing right now with them at the back.

I am not sure how he got picked for the england team a few weeks ago if Capello ''apparantly'' goes off current form.

This says a lot to me that players are now coming out and voicing their concerns. I think what he is hinting at is that we need to play a more defensive game and give the back 4 some kind of protection, cos at the moment, they aren't getting any which is why we are leaking goals for fun.

I respect Gary Cahill and what he has to say. You watch Kevin Davies will be next to say something to the papers. I get the feeling the players may be starting to turn on Coyle and the fans won't be far behind. I know he has lost a lot on here already.

Yea I bet Cahill phoned the newspaper to say that and Kevin Davies will be next to contact them.

Or maybe Cahill got asked a question and answered it.

No players obviously get asked questions all the time by the press but usually they will just duck the question or churn out some boring answer about taking 1 game at a time or some other cliche. The fact that Gary Cahill has gone and given a more honest answer and voiced some concerns I find quite worrying. That says to me they are losing faith in Coyle.

We could pack the team with 10 defenders but if your full-back is going to head the ball back into the danger area for the opposition it won't make any difference.

Cahill needs to man up and realise he is just as shite as the rest of 'em right now.

Natasha, you can have some of the best players in the world but if you haven't got a manager who can organise them tactically then you are still going to fall short.

I think we have got a half decent squad this season. Many of us on here were very pleased with our signings over the summer and i thought, before the injuries to Lee and then Holden, it was the strongest group we have had for years. So why are we so rubbish when on paper we have a decent squad? I can only now conclude, like many of you already have done, that Coyle is just not up to the job.

The thing about Robinson is that he hardly ever tackles player, and if he does, it's a bad one and he gives away a free kick and and gets booked. Cahill has been completely unspectacular. He hasn't been terrible, but he hasn't been outstanding. Wheater has been fantastic this season, apart from getting a red card for blowing on Walcott. I'd rather have Cahill and Wheater than Knight and Wheater. Knight is complete horse shite.

I'm not sure we have tbh. Too many players not good enough for the premier league , a couple who are are out injured and a couple who were are coming to the end of their careers.

Lets put it this way; if we had Big Sam in charge do you think we would be in the bottom 3? I reckon we would be about 8th to 10th, if not higher.

We certainly should have beat Norwich at home and we deffo should have beat them on Saturday. That would have put us on 12 points and we would currently lie 8th.

We'd have a lot more draws IMO.

we'd probably have drawn against Norwich and drawn against Sunderland.

Its a good point you make about the draws. We are set up under Coyle to either win or lose. We play such an open game, with no thought of trying to keep it tight whatsoever. I actually made the same point to my mates at the match that we are unlikely to draw any game soon cos of the way we play. Playing this way you either win big or lose big.

Blackpool at home summed it up for me last year.

Made his subs at 2-0 down and in his post-match interview said 'I'd rather lose 4-0 trying to get back into the game than settle on 2-0 and limiting damage.'

Unfortunately, at the moment, we seem to be just losing big.

"When you are under pressure, there is only so much you can head out and defend," he said.

This pretty much sums it up.  If you're going to play "attacking football" you need to maintain possession in the other team's half.  We didn't do that on Saturday and thus were battered.  Yes, Robinson's clearing header was frightful but by the law of averages if youre giving up 10-20 corners and free kicks in dangerous areas, you're not going to clear all of them.
