Ok so a lot of folk are rapidly joining the Coyle out club and with good reason based on our points tally. However, can somebody please explain to me how 11 professional footballers in the Premier League can all play so poorly and so devoid of passion and creativity? And why is it only the manager to blame? Even if there was no manager you would think 11 professional players could put on a better display than that. How can the manager possibly have such a stong influence on how they perform individually?

(I'm not saying he is not to blame, I just want to know why the player's individual performances rely so heavily on one man? Can they not take responsibility and sort it out between them?)

The quick answer to your question is that it's easier to fire the manager than replace all of the players.

In short: OC had the team believing they were "The shíte" prior to the now infamous FA Cup semi-final. They got their asses handed to them in such a way they never thought possible. They no longer believe anything he says, and have dropped the "The" and are now shíte.

Don't spoil his fun. He's at his happiest after a Bolton defeat.

I'll play.

The simplest explanation is that Coyle sends out the team to play the same way every game (ok we had a couple of 4-5-1's a few weeks back but they were the exception over his roughly 2 years in charge).

At first it worked fine but it soon dawned on other teams managers HOW we play and they planned for it.

They virtually KNOW how we will be set up and which players will be playing and PLAN how to defeat us.

It's not really rocket science to know that Robinson is vulnerable when Petrov plays in front of him, or that Davies is too slow to pose a threat from open play, or that Knight was a liability, or that with Petrov and Eagles in midfield that the remaining two players can be simply outnumbered and midfield lost.

Look at the stats from yesterday - Sunderland (the team who's playing record recently is as bad as ours!) completely dominated us - they had more shots than us, more corners than us, etc - and we were the home team!

If we all know what system and team Coyle will pick for the next game - so to will the opposition - and they will plan how to beat us - whilst all we seem to do is play endless games of 7 a side in training and get told to 'express yourselves' on match day.

Honestly out of those two different types of approach to a game do you think will end up being the most successful?

Sturridge said it in an interview last season about what we do in training.

The 7 a side thing is great if you've got talented players who can knock it about.

we've got a bunch of average journeymen tossers who are playing for their pay cheque nothing else.

even swansea have talented players giving it 100% for the badge. Play great football as well.

It isn't anything like the team from last season though, is it.

No Chungy, Holden, Taylor, Elmander, Sturridge for half, and now M. Davies is missing out for some reason.
That is more than half an outfield difference - plus Muamba......Owen needs to go back to basics.

I trust that he will.
