I'm off on my jollies in 4 weeks, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for some reading?
I'm into autobiographies, and I'm gonna be reading 'Walking down the Manny road' as well.
What do you reckon?

Was walking past one of those charity shops a while back and noticed a job lot of Bill Bryson books - they've been quite entertaining.
Also went into one of those cheap book shops and got Jeff Stelling's autobiography - Jellyman throws a wobbly' - that keep me amused for just a couple of quid!
(Sounds as though I'm really tight with my money - doesn't it!)

To agree once may be regarded as a misfortune; to agree twice looks like carelessness.

Peter Kays first book is quite good, and as Sluffy says the Jeff Stelling is amusing. Another amusing autobiography is he one from Kris Kamara. One I thoroughly enjoyed was the biog of Richard Hammond. Not read it yet, book the Alan Sugar one is supposedly a good read.

I spend a lot of time buying books from charity shops. I begrudge paying a tenner or more for a newly released book when I can pick it up for a few quid in a charity shop.

By writing one about one part of your life, and one about another. And he has 3, but I've not got round to reading the third yet.

And he's not even 40. Also, it seems to go against the definition of an autobiography. Fair play to him though for milking every penny out of the public he can.

I tend to only get the chance to have a good read when I am on holiday. My favourite author is Tom Sharpe. For anyone who likes humour and farce then some of his early stuff before the days of PC, are well worth a read. DO NOT read his books on a plane. You will upset the passengers with your guffaws.
