League Managers' Association chief executive Richard Bevan has warned that foreign owners are looking to scrap relegation from and promotion to the Premier League
Of the 20 sides currently competing in the Premier League, half are under foreign ownership.
"Because there are a number of overseas-owned clubs already talking about bringing about the avoidance of promotion and relegation in the Premier League.''
It would cripple english football IMO if it went through, just hope it doesn't happen.

I read that if enough clubs vote for it, it'll happen.
If it did I wouldn't go to another football match. It'd be like watching friendlies every week.

It would benefit Bolton, I think.

How? It's dull enough as it stands, who'd want to watch Bolton when it doesn't matter whether you win or lose?

Ah fair enough. I meant from a financial standpoint really. To be honest, I can see small clubs like our being in favour of this.
Just imagine if we were relegated, we'd potentially lose allot more than just our premier league status.

If this happend the bottom would fall out of the lower leagues altogether and english football would become worse than the scottish leagues eventually.
Let's face it every club from the championship down dreams of playing in the premier league, if that wasn't possible what would be the point of even trying to win any of the lower leagues.

Surely it wouldn't be that bad! If this happens, there would probably be a fan started league system sort of thing, like FC United, but with leagues.

First off, they should boot that Taffy team out as a matter of priority.
It'll probably be on a 'super league' basis and by invitation only, or being able to buy out existing member clubs once it it up and running.
Either way the idea is bobbins. The idea of promotion and relegation is the cornerstone of English football.

Even though we'll no doubt get relegated again one day I'm 100% against this idea.

Oh definitely, and that's why we should all be worried about this. Clubs like Bolton and Blackburn would be falling over themselves to sign on the dotted line for no relegation. Coyle out.

I read that if enough clubs vote for it, it'll happen. I believe the Football League would still have veto power over the idea, which they would certainly exercise. It might seem like a good idea as it would lock Bolton into the top tier, but rest assured, the “big clubs” would be looking to replace us with Leeds or West Ham or some other “massive” club at the soonest opportunity.

Im not sure where this kind of set up would take football,it would protect a lot of clubs from going under, but my gut feeling says it would be bad for the game in general. Its all about money as usual, and this kind of thing will continue to rear its ugly head till we have some kind of financial regulation in the game.Dont ask me for the answer Im no financial Whizz kid Im struggling reading the gas and leccy bills at moment.I dont think anything will happen till a so called big club actually goes into adminisration or worse folds completely then maybe the self centered money men who run most of our clubs might look at the wider picture. Not sure if any of you read this, but here is what your man had to say on it. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/bolton-wanderers/3251853/Bolton-chairman-Phil-Gartside-calls-for-two-tier-Premier-League-with-no-relegation-Football.html
