Anyone know what exactly happened to get him on the floor? And why were the police just leaving him lying there?

It looks way to heavy handed IMO but he must have done something for them to go in.

Yea he really looks the hooligan type. It's an old man who didn't want any trouble. The stewards decided he was the one they'd pick on that day though. Stewards are scum.

Dave, you know I've said it before but this whole thing of people standing in all seater stadiums just gets too messy. I've not been to an away game for a while but presume the Bolton fans stand the whole time like away fans do at the Reebok.
My personal view is that I dont know why anyone would want to stand for 90 minutes when there is a seat there but I do understand that is a preference for some.
Sometimes the wrong people will get hurt, it needs sorting.

Yes you've made that point before. Who were the right people to hurt in this situation then? As far as I know he was stood up like everyone else there.
That's no excuse for the stewards to treat him, or anyone else, like that.

I agree about the stewards behaviour, then again there's no need for the vile abuse they get off fans either. They come out to do a job the club and FA ask them to do, probably for not much money. They then get subjected to abuse, threats, spitting I've seen. I wouldn't do that job.
We are in danger of shooting the messenger here. If people feel strongly enough about standing then lobby the club for standing areas. Until that happens and some fans persist in standing someone will be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This was allegedly an old bloke with heart problems. What's he doing standing up hurling abuse anyway?

They choose to do the job. Nobody makes them. They're from the same breed as traffic wardens and football refs. They're twats who get given a little bit of power and abuse it.

I'm not sure that's always the case although I accept there's always a few rotten apples. Most of the ones I see are just old blokes who show folk where their seats are and keep the gangways clear.
So what's the alternative, we don't have any?

So you don't see the stewards who wade into the crowd every week and drag people out? A lot like the ones in the Youtube video did? They've got a tiny bit of power, get over excited and think they can treat people how they want. They should obviously be better trained and have a bit of common sense about them. Anyone with half a brain can see they handled this situation very, very badly.

If people stand up when they have a seat they should get a good kicking.
No doubt Dave & co will come back with the "it's our right to stand" bollocks, when they'd never dream of standing anywhere else they were supplied with a seat - cinema, restaurant, church, gay sex show etc...

I think you should be BA's resident fluffer. At least it'd keep you quiet every once and a while.
