Well he didn't exactly use those words but that's what he means. -
GAEL Kakuta has pleaded with Owen Coyle for a chance to shine in this weekend's derby.
The France Under-21 international's only taste of action since arriving on loan from Chelsea was a scoring debut against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup last month.
Otherwise, the pacy winger has watched on from the bench as Wanderers' early season form dipped from bad to worse.
But he will return from European Championship duty tomorrow (Wednesday) looking to play a more prominent role in Saturday's clash with local rivals Wigan Athletic.
“I don’t really feel like I have had a chance to show people what I am capable of in the Premier League,” said the 20-year-old, who featured in a 2-0 victory over Kazakhstan on Friday and should line-up against Romania in Bucharest this evening. “I came here to play. No player likes to be sitting on the bench.
“I understand that you have to earn your place and I’m confident in my own ability and know that I will make the most of this opportunity.”
Wanderers fans got a glimpse of what the Lille-born youngster can do in his electric performance on the right wing at Villa Park, but Coyle regards Kakuta more as direct competition for Martin Petrov on the left flank.
It has been a slow route towards a regular starting place but the loan star now feels he is ready for the call.
“It was enjoyable to score on my debut but that’s in the past now and I obviously want to play as much as I can,” said Kakuta, who was ineligible for selection against his parent club at the Reebok last time out.
“I feel comfortable in the team and that is always a bonus because it helps you play your best football.”
