On a positive note...

I know we are all ultra-depressed with the way things have gone this season, but maybe, just maybe if things can get back on track over the next five or six games, things might look a bit more promising...

Think about the run we've had, then think about "high-flying" Newcastle, whom to me flatter to deceive:

Newcastle    0 - 0  Arsenal
Sunderland  0 - 1  Newcastle
Newcastle    2 - 1  Fulham
QPR              0 - 0  Newcastle
Aston Villa    1 - 1  Newcastle
Newcastle    3 - 1  Blackburn
Wolves         1 - 2  Newcastle

Hm, hardly played any world beaters as yet...no Man Utd, no Chelsea, no Liverpool, no Spurs...only a draw at home to Arsenal, who were really poor early season...however, they do have points in the bag I suppose. (btw - is it just me, or does Alan Pardew have a face you would just love to land one on, even if you are a pacifist?)

Then we have Arsenal...

Newcastle - a draw away with no goals
Liverpool - comprehensively beaten at home 2-0
Man Utd - murdered 8-2 at Old Trafford
Swansea - scraped a 1-0 win, thanks to a free gift from the Swansea keeper
Blackburn - lost away 4-3 (although I thought BB were lucky and Steve Kean is an ugly dude)
Our hapless selves - won 3-0...although their first half display barely threatened - they were again given a free gift of a goal and played against 10 men
Tottenham - lost away 2-1

Arsenal then have played three decent teams and were easily beaten by them all...their two wins have come as a result of fluke and playing us!

Soooooo....depressed as we are, let's have a bit of hope that maybe our turn to have an easier run in the league is upon us, but let's couple that with playing the right eleven from the start and dropping the duffers until they can prove a return to form (if they ever had it) in the reserves...

Win our next three spike and we can be 8th realistically!
But winning our next three is going to be the problem.

It seems Monsieur Coyle is prepared to cut players from the team but it looks to me like he keeps cutting the wrong ones and insisting on keeping the weak links in place to allow us to be exploited. We were solid against Villa at the back with Gardner at the back but since then have continued to employ, pensioner, Paul Robinson on the left with Martin Petrov. We get slaughtered week after week down that flank and Coyle never remedies it!

What bugs me most is that we may put out sub standard teams for the next three games and we may pick up points in doing so. This will no doubt help our league standing but we will still not have addressed the core issues.

I hope we can win the next three - but obviously any less than that and the impact on other team's results will not see some meteoric rise....but, let's see how things unfold...
