I think Robinson is the worst player Bolton have had as a regular first choice starter in any position in this 11 season stretch in the Premier League. Hunt?

Hunt?
Hunt and Gardner were the two weak links in Allardyce's great team that finished 6th but I think they were both at a higher level than Robinson.Hunt was a better athlete, bigger, stronger and quicker.

Every time hunt fell down his shoulder popped out.
an athlete? No.
Ibrahim Ba is the worst player i've seen in white but he wasn't a regular.

Mario Jardel was the worst player in a white shirt.

how many games did he play? 1? 2? to be the worst ever i'd want 3 or 4 own goals, 8 crossfield "gardners" to the other team and a tantrum.

Robinson is really not good. To be fair to him, he had his moments last year - but he's being targeted this season and isn't up to the task.
Gerald Cid was worse, though.

Plenty of people thought Robinson was a good signing. Hard to believe as he was very average in a shíte West Brom team.

I thought he might be a good signing when I wanted us to sign him, 3-4 years earlier. By the time we did sign him, I was very dubious.

Robbo has some good points, but with such a lack of pace and tendency to give away free kicks he's a liability in this division. For two seasons I've been bleating on about the importance of getting two mobile full backs and have been frustrated by the constant influx of midfielders and a couple of false dawns in Alonso and Mears. It's like OC doesn't value the importance of the position from both attacking and defensive perspectives.
A good full back needs to be able to do a lot of things well and be a top athlete into the bargain. They need to get up and down the pitch, have good positional sense and be able to tackle when defending. They need to be able to cross the ball and pass well going forward. Top ones have a shot on them and present a goal threat although I don't expect we'll be getting the next Roberto Carlos in the near future. Most of all they need to be able to work well with the CBs, midfielders and strikers.
Full back is one of the hardest positions to play well, so I only hope OC starts to understand the criteria and sort it out asap.

Me too. I was told off in the summer for going on about needing full-backs. To be fair to OC, I don't think Megson or Allardyce were that convinced about full-backs either.

Megson and Coyle between them signed five fullbacks. That should be plenty, it's just they're all crap.

Look at the difference in Cahill's performances for England compared to those for us. Just shows that he can be reasonably solid when he's not being dragged all over the shop having to compensate for 2 easily beaten full backs. If Rodney hadn't got himself sent off on Friday there would have been sufficient in midfield to shut the door and see out a victory.
