You miss the point. You have a choice to stand in a bar which is fine, but at a football match you are supposed to sit down.

If you took your family to the cinema and some fat bloke stood up in front of you would you be cool with that? I suspect not.

I think his point was that we should, as supporters, be given the choice by having designated areas in which to stand. You have not yet come up with a good reason why people should not stand other than the fact that you prefer sitting in silence.

Remember when we played  Arsenal at Burnden and we drew 2-2. They were the FA cup holders. The p
atmosphere was as electric as it has ever been. You could actually hear people hold their breath and scream in anticipation of chances being created, shots being saved and roars as the team pressed forward. That has to be more enjoyable than sitting passively as a spectator. Surely the whole idea of tribally supporting a club is to be passionate and as involved as possible. If the idea was just to spectate then it wouldn't matter who we were watching, we would all just go and watch who ever played the best football.

That was my point exactly. True to form, you're right, she has not come up with her reasonings yet.

Strange how all those people connected with the enquiry never came up with that one. If you do have a brain then move it out of neutral.

Ok fine. People died in that disaster but it certainly wasn't standing which caused it. All seater stadiums was part knee jerk reaction/part thinking it's the future of top level stadia.

The thing is we would still have a disaster, seats or no seats, if we tried to cram 70,000 into the Reebok one day for a football game with high metal fences at the front of each section. That is what caused the Hillsborough disaster. Cramming too many people into too small a space!

And that was why they introduced all seater stadiums so they could monitor and control the number of fans in any one area.

I'm not against standing areas for the wannabee X Factor singers but the current mix and match doesn't work.
