Because Coyle would have to admit to the world he is a tactical fanny.

As interesting a concept as a tactical fanny is, even Owen Coyle will eventually see that we have the players to do well if he plays the right ones in the right system. I can't imagine that the team and system he put out against Villa was an accident - more likely an experiment. It worked. He sacked it off. We got creamed again.
The message is bound to get through sooner or later, we'll play really well, win lots of games and he will be a tactical ...'erm fanny. Fannies are a good thing IMHO.

Jim Bentley at Morecambe would be good.

Did he 'sack it off'? He played 451 again; he played N'Gog upfront instead of K Davies. Cahill was injured so we'll never know whether he would have fucked off Knight or not. Gardner and Holden had played all over 90 mins football between them in the last six months so it was unlikely that either of them would feature. What did he sack off?

Actually, Gardner played a few games at the end of last season, which was only 4 months ago.

Don't I look the fool! He has still been out for a while, and was out for a while before his forgettable games at the back end of last season. You can't really blame Coyle for not starting him against Arsenal.

Coyle said his "calfs were in bits" after the Villa game so make of that what you will.

Of course you can. Only a fool would think Robinson could handle Walcott.

Walcott is utter garbage when he is up against a fast full-back, Gardner should have played at left-back.

I doubt Ricky was tired from the Villa match, it was 4 days before the Arsenal match, so it can't be because of that. It's just Coyle being scared to change things around much. (Just thought I'd mention that it's Ricky's 33rd birthday today. Happy birthday Ricardo!!)

How anyone can suggest Gardner could be tired is laughable. He's spent the last 4 years sitting/lying down.

But his legs were fcuked after 90 minutes according to coyle, not sure why he'd lie about that.

clearly he can't play 2 games in a week.

Natasha, why can't you accept that the lad was injured, you weren't aware, and thus, your pontification that he should have played was erroneous. Coyle was quoted after the Villa game as saying that Gardner's "calf was in bits". Please stop looking to criticise every one at every opportunity?

What about Bruce Rioch. He is still managing at Aalborg BK In Demark,he is 64,but look at Wenger, Sir Red Nose and Roy Hodgson. Get Mc Ginley involved in some way.

Rioch has a poor record in the top flight in England, he's not worked in English football for ten years, and at 64, he's 18 years older than Wenger was when he took over at Arsenal. In all the complaining about Coyle on this forum and elsewhere, I've still not seen a realistic selection for an alternative. I'm not asking the earth - someone who has managed at this level, the fans would get behind, and who would be happy to have no money to spend.

If OC were to go which I hopefully doubt will happen, I'd love to see Ian Holloway replace him, has premiership experience, albeit limited and ending in failiure, a great love of the way football should be played and is as funny as fcúk.
Ok we'd probably go down but would be great to watch and  would get loads of admiring neutrals following us.

Like Allardyce perhaps?

If we pretend for a moment that Allardyce was out of work, and that he didn't leave the club on bad terms with Gartside, then I think the stumbling block would be the lack of transfer funds. Since leaving the club, Allardyce has spoken a fair bit about his final season at the Reebok in his newspaper column. His version of events is that he had an option to buy players like Vidic and Evra on the cheap in his final transfer window with us to try to push on into the Champions League slots, the board wouldn't back him with funds, and the players lost heart, which is why our season tailed off.  That's his version of events of course, but the point is, we have even less money to spend now than we did in 2007.

But yes, if Coyle were sacked, and Allardyce were available, and willing to take the job, I'd happily have him back.

If OC were to go which I hopefully doubt will happen, I'd love to see Ian Holloway replace him, has premiership experience, albeit limited and ending in failiure, a great love of the way football should be played and is as funny as fcúk.

Yeah, Ian Holloway is a great character. He would bring attention to the club and some positive publicity, and he likes to play football the right way, but what I think cost Blackpool last season was Holloway's dogmatic refusal to defend a lead. Admirable but cavalier.

I know it was a tongue in cheek suggestion, but it;s a better one than Souness, Di Canio or Rioch.
