And counting. It's only going to get worse, in my opinion. It's the reason Kurt Angle left WWE. Got out before he exploded.

I haven't watched wrestling in years but am never surprised when i hear of one them dying of over doses and sterioids.

Why what happened to kurt angle?

Well, in about 2003, Angle was the top star in WWE. He went to all the house shows, tours, autograph signings, WWE films etc. However, after the death of Chris Benoit (RIP), Angle started to suffer from the same things that Benoit did, before he, sadly did what he did. Steroids, Anger issues because in the WWE, you are on the road about 300 days a year, no breaks. Plus, as he was the top star, people demanded to see him, so instead of doing 300 days a year, he did about 350 (?).

In the end, he left because he felt he was heading down a dark road and he's lucky really. Not many people would get their own release, recently after signing a new five year contract.

Even today, eight years on. Many famous wrestlers have quite WWE (Batista, Jericho etc), just because of how time consuming the schedule is. They aren't going to hang around, when they know they can go elsewhere, earn similar wages, whilst working a lighter schedule.

That's it, in a nutshell. Smiley

Wasn't Benoit found to have serious brain damage when they did the autopsy on him?

Yeah he did. Sad, really because he was apparently a nice man. It's amazing how quickly someone can "snap", as according to wrestlers like Edge, Triple H; he was fine and dandy, the day before he did what he did.

Amazing what the drugs, stress can do to you.

I think he got smashed over the head a few too many times.

Plus all the steroids and pain killers.

He must've been totally fúcked in the head to do what he did.

I used to watch when it was WWF in the 80s/90s but never really since then. My day was all about Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan and Undertaker. I got bored of it though the more silly it got. Never knew so many would die though.

You'd think they'd do something to reduce the risk of these deaths, happening in future. Sadly, not allot is done.

Like what? They know the risks, they clearly think the money makes it worth it for them.

The owner of the biggest wrestling organistaion in the world is an obvious steroid abuser.

I doubt he discourages his staff against doing the same.

Well yeah but that's the thing though: allot of wrestler today are questioning whether it's really worth it? UFC is an attractive option to wrestlers, as it's good pay and a much lighter schedule. Others have left and gone down the acting route.

Wrestling, as an industry, is the worst it has ever been. It's certailny not as appealing, as a job, as it was ten, fifteen years ago.

UFC isn't that well paid unless you're one of the top few fighters tbh.

Fair enough. Smiley Are the ex WWE guys like Lesner, Lashley, top stars there? Not sure if they have an advantage or something.

Lesnar is up there. Lashley isn't in the UFC yet. Not sure what organisation he's been fighting in tbh.

And the unhealthy fat bastard Big Daddy lived to be 67.

There's a moral to this story somewhere.

Mate of a mate type story:

My old flatmate used to work with a semi professional wrestler that used to knock around with Giant Haystacks. The wouldn't let him drive because he was such a fat fúcker his metabolism was so slow he used to fall asleep at the drop of a hat.

I just noticed at the top of the list 3 kids named Von Erich died at 21.23 and 33 years old. I assume they are related. What on earth must their families have gone through losing 3 at such a young age and all because of drugs.

I used to watch wrestling when I was younger.  I've seen this list a few times and it's always depressing.  Owen Hart was the most tragic, when he died I pretty much lost interest.

Misawa was also probably the best wrestler who ever lived, I couldn't believe that one when I heard it.
