I don't know about anybody else but it seems to me, that forums in general, are allot quiter than they have been previously. Not just football related forums either. I know people are using things like facebook, Twitter, Bebo(?) etc instead but forums have always been most interesting to me. I'd rather have debates, discussion on forums, rather than doing that via groups on facebook for example.

Seems like the internet is moving on, while community forums are standing still.

I was watching something in the wee small hours a few months ago on BBC News 24 business bit. I forget which site they set up (think it was Friends Reunited), but the creators were having a debate on how nearly all social networking sites are 'cyclical' and have a natural lifespan before tapering out on the interest front and people moving on to the next big thing. They recognised this and pulled out when it was at it's peak and made a very large fortune off it (think they sold it to AOL).

Does anyone use Friendsreunited any more? They seemed to really mess up on friendsreunited, I think I am right in saying it was the first social networking site of its type and they kept charging people even when facebook and myspace were free. I know they eventually made it free but it was too late, everyone seemed to have left them.
I don't think forums are in decline personally. I have looked at many other football club forums, betting forums, martial arts forums, etc and they get huge numbers posting. However, no one else I know writes on forums.

It's an education thing.

The current generation of forum users can't write more than a few words in broken English. They simply aren't cut out for life on a forum. Texting or Twitter is more their thing where they can get away with being illiterate.

My generation are generally better educated and find it easier to have a debate or discussion on an internet forum.

I think it's an age thing.

I simply don't get Facebook at all - wtf be bothered about keeping in touch with someone who can't be arsed to pick up a phone and say hello to you?

As for tweeting it seems a sort of showy off kind of thing to do - you know the sort of listen to me I know something you don't, or how funny am I, or fawning over the words of some millionaire sports brat, or something to be rude and obnoxious with that you would never in a million years say to someone’s face.

My daughter however loves her 'blackberrying' or whatever its called and her facebook, and probably tweeting as well for all I know - its just not for me.

I'll just stick to the forums and when they die off I'll just fade away with them - I'm not conceited enough to believe that the world is desperate to keep in touch with me or wants to hear my views and opinions on everything and anything.

I think us older ones are more tolerant and don't take things so bloody seriously. We come on here for a laugh and a joke and to see other posters point of view. We couldn't really give a flying cluck what other posters think of us and we we do not bother with all this social networking shoite. ( It just takes all the fun out of intelligent conversation )

Aidy is no longer the GMP football liaison officer. I think he has retired or been transferred. I saw his replacement at Liverpool away.  I actually though Aidy was OK. we could have had a lot worse.
