It wasn't the best game ever last night but I'm more than happy with the result. Both goals were decent finishes and we finally tried something a little different. And it worked. Well done Owen.

Come On You Whites!!!

I disagree with you there a bit Dave I felt it was as perfect an away performance as you can expect at a place like Villa Park. We looked confident, willing to try new stuff and strong at the back. Our passing was improved tenfold from Saturday and two fantastic goals got us the win we thoroughly deserved. And it was meant to be McCleish's best team against our second string!

Did you think it was a good game though Rabz? I didn't tbh. I haven't been critical of the performance. Just the game in general.

I'll settle for of the same on Saturday though.

I quite enjoyed it yes. We defended well when we had to and were always looking to create whenever we could. Obviously we aren't going to be coming out with 20 shots on target because we are away from home but we stopped any threat they had with relative ease apart from the five minutes after we hit the post, and the few minutes after it went to 2-0. But even then Bogdan made sure he kept his clean sheet.

On another note I was impressed with the turnout from our lot last night. I know it was only a tenner but on a Tuesday night after the depressing results we've had recently it was a good effort. I don't think we ever take that many in a Premier League game there.

I agree. I enjoyed it. I always do when we get a good result away from home. I've seen better games though.

It was well worth £10 though.

He did alright imo.

I don't think he got injured which is amazing in itself and makes a nice change.

I reckon Robinson will be back for the Arsenal game though.

Careful, you don't want to upset Keegan now, do you?

Many put this victory down to the involvement of Stuart Holden.
His input did us no harm, but its unfair to ignore the difference made by numerous other factors.

Several changes Coyle made had us looking like a team and not the dysfunctional shower we've been all season.

He ditched Davies and played N'Gog up front on his own which worked well as he held the ball up well and the inclusion of Kakuta who attacked brilliantly meant N'Gog forever had somebody useful to hold it up for. Eagles also linked up well from the left hand side. But the selection of three central midfielders meant that we didn't suffer as a result of having two wingers whose defensive play leaves a lot to be desired.

The fact Coyle refuses to even give this sort of system a try doesn't add up.

Thanks for reading,

Gloria.
