Well i think the time has come when most of us would agree that SKD should no longer be starting games week in week out. He's not up to the pace of the premier league anymore, and i don't think he's ever been a true captain. This is not a slight on him,far from it but unfortunately time has caught up with SKD and i feel his role should be more as a impact sub.
If this is the case surely we need to sort a captain out who's going to be playing every week.Somebody who Will give the rest of the team a good bollocking when needed and lead by example with effort. Two names spring to mind for me,Robbo and Reo Coker. My choice would be Reo Coker as he's younger and on Saturdays poor showing i thought he was one of the few who looked interested. He also seems quite a vocal player and has the added help of already having experienced being a captain.
Anyway just my view on things, what about the rest of you?

Is Reo Coker going to start every week though?
When Holden is fit again I'm not sure he will.
Fwiw I've no idea who our captain should be.

I said weeks ago we should have signed a captain, even if he wasn't the best of players.
When the chips are down we have no one to get stuck in and lead by example.

Robinson is the obvious one imo.
He's struggled a bit so far this season though.

Davies was appointed captain on the back of his heroic performance against Tottenham; at the time it was hard to argue with the choice. Coyle has signed two new strikers this summer and is starting to sub Davies off so I think it’s a safe bet to assume that Davies will be coming off the bench sooner rather than later. Still, stripping Davies of the captaincy would be the wrong decision at this point. We don’t have an obvious heir apparent. Robinson is old, Reo-Coker has no real connection to the club yet, Holden may or may not be too injury prone, and Cahill could be gone in a few months. Davies is still the face of Bolton Wanderers and removing him as captain would be bad for morale.
If nothing else, consider that Knight appears to be Coyle’s vice-captain and would likely get the armband in the event Davies is stripped of the captaincy.

Didn't we used to have a club captain and also a team captain back in the 90's? Davies should be made club captain and then we can choose a team captain depending on who's in the starting eleven.

Get a new team captain and retain Davies as club captain.

In some respects, I suppose.
I'm not fond of the ginger Walter Mitty either.

Nobody in our side screams leader though, anybody we would choose is just a make do option.
If GC agreed to a new deal then I don't think he would be a bad option but that being said I don't think he is ideal.
I think the whole appeal of Davies being captain was that he may not be the most outspoken but he has always gave 110% every game and been the person that sets the example for the whole team but now he can't perform to those levels any more I am not sure he is able to set that kind of example to the rest of the team anymore.

Holden is one of our better players and gives his all in every game which means you have to consider him. However, he isn't all that vocal on the pitch and he's had injury problems so I'd wait to see how he fares this year before giving him the armband.
There must be something to Reo-Coker since two clubs have made him captain but I don't like the idea of taking the captaincy from a guy who has been with us eight years and giving it to a brand new signing.

Holdens' injury problems are usually linked to some cúnt flying in at him, so the 'injury-prone' tag seems a bit much. Right now though, I'd make Cahill captain.

Robbo - similar to SKD, he has a good work ethic and will lead by example.
I suspect Cahill, whilst one of our better players, has no real allegiance to the club right now. That does not a good captain make.

I don't know why Knight is vice-captain. He couldn't organize his way out of a paper bag with a hole in it that lad. For me it would have to be Holden when he's back. Though, Cahill looks like he could organize the team, and he's a defender and can see where everyone is etc. I'll leave it to Mr Coyle to decide.

We do need someone a bit more vocal.
You don't see KD geein up the players.
i think Marcos Alonso would make the worst captain... give him a shot.

What is the point of a captain anyway? All they do is wear an arm band and shake hands with the ref before kick off.

Cahill or Robinson would be the obvious choices. Long term, the armband could be given to NRC.
