Chilean starlet Stefano Magnasco has confirmed that he is travelling to England to undergo a trial with Bolton Wanderers. Magnasco, who can play anywhere down the right side, had also been linked with other English clubs including Chelsea, but he is looking forward to trying his luck with Bolton. "I have to seize this chance, and if I am not ready they will tell me," he told Chilean radio Bio Bio. "It never hurts to take advantage of this situation." http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12874_7169577,00.html

How can we sign him if he's under contract?

I guess it may be like a pre-contract agreement to stop other clubs chasing his signature?

I think he means he has signed with his parent club on a professional deal. This means he is able to be sold at a profit for the club. Hence why they are happy to let him come to Bolton on trial.

I think you've missed Dave's point Jay Jay - If he has a contract with a club (which as you point out he has) then how can we sign him outside the transfer window - ie what is the point of him even bothering to have a trial if we can't sign him even if he is as good as Messi? I'm guessing what could happen is we may sign him to a pre contact agreement?

Seems like he has as much chance of getting a work permit as I do, but with a name like that maybe he's got an Italian passport or something.

Magnasco can sign immediately as he does not have a pro contract with Universidad. There would only be a training compensation fee of around £225,000 to pay

"In September, Chelsea wanted to sign the youngster, but Bolton Wanderers came in with a counter offer. On 11 September 2011, he travelled to England to begin a trial with Bolton Wanderers." Well he must be good if Chelsea wanted him. Things most be looking up out bidding Chelsea

A bit inappropriate considering the death of 4 people over the last few days !

IF he's any good - and I believe the trial isn't over yet as he didn't arrive until a few days after the date mentioned - there is the little matter of the contract he signed with his club when he set off - clearly designed to maximise the money they'd get from us.

Yes! ITK Fact
I don't believe you sorry, I got yesterdays paper and the front page was about X-Factor so I am pretty sure that nothing went on.

In fairness, Sharps - he did say "ITK Fact".
