Reports emerging on the web that Boyata is set to join on loan this week, just two months after his father had said he didn't want to come to Bolton. Reports on Sunday evening suggest Bolton are close to sealing a loan deal for Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata.
Boyata was a noticeable absentee from the City squad this weekend, as they ran out 3-2 winners over Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.
Following the conclusion of that match, it has emerged that the Belgium international is close to sealing a move, coming somewhat as a surprise following comments made by his father earlier in the summer.
"If Dedryck will get the promise from coach (Roberto) Mancini that he will get sufficient playing opportunities he will stay for sure," Bienvenu told Het Laatste Nieuws in June.
"There could be a deal made with Gary Cahill from Bolton, but Dedryck doesn't want to go to that club.
"Everton are showing interest in him as well, and they are very much an option for him."
Should Boyata complete the u-turn and complete a switch to the Trotters, he could soon be joined by his City team-mate Shaun Wright-Phillips, who could also be unveiled as a Bolton player by the end of the week.

Maybe he's realised it's us or City reserves.

I'm not interested in a defender on loan. Sturridge could go out there and do it all on his own so that made sense. Defenders need to understand each other and communicate and that takes time. We need to be building for the future, not selling Cahill on August 31st and scrambling for a short term option.

This is a bit odd isn't it? Right now he wouldn't get a game for us would he? But if Cahill was to be sold we would be really short on centre backs and it would make sense loaning someone. I am hoping that this means the club really are expecting a bid to come in for Cahill in the next week.

According to Nixon (i know, i know) he's being brought in initially to play at right back as Steinsson may be injured.

Only way he could stay at rb was if he was shot and laid there.

He seriously angers me and it astounds me that people can slag off Jussi and Davies who have been outstanding performers for years but dick heads like Steinsson get praise because he shouts and beats his chest at the start of every second half despite performing terribly for ages.

SKD is a legend in my household. Always will be. He gives his all for the team. Who ever says otherwise need their heads banging. That goes for Jussi. They both have given majority of their carears to the mighty Whites specially in Jussi's case. Everybody is entitle to their own opinions. 1 thing for sure ask any player in the premiership who they hate most to play against. ! answer .... SKD & that's not for his fouling etc.

True. He's got worse and worse in my opinion. He looked ok when we first signed him and that's what I'm hoping he can get back to.

Steinnson is one of the weakest link in our team. His defending has been poor and so has his crossing. Not been the same since 1st season he played for us. Would have thought he be playing for a new contract.

Steinsson has had a few rough seasons, no doubt, but whatever your opinion on him you have to give him credit him if he did indeed play with a broken bone in his foot. Dyer didn't even break his metatarsal and it took him out of the game.

Do we not have anyone in the reserves who can fill in at right back until Ricketts is fit in October?

Nigel Reo-Coker can play at right back if needed.

With the way Steinsson has been playing it is a shame that he is not more like Dyer.

Steinsson did well yesterday but pulled up in pain a couple of times before limping it off.

Did you not see that Milner chance which Steinsson went completely walk about and followed him instead of getting into position and stopping the initial cross, I am convinced the guy does not know how to play right back and maybe is more comfortable as a right midfielder which I think he plays for Iceland.
