I'm tempted to say getting hooked on Bolton Wanderers, just think of all the cash and time I'd have saved if I'd never been to a football match.

But football apart, is there a time in your life when you wish you'd done something differently? Perhaps you took a job and wished you'd stayed where you were. Perhaps you ended a relationship with a hottie and ended up marrying a trout. Or perhaps you put off having kids too many times and now it's too late.

My biggest mistake was not accepting a marriage proposal when I was 24. I thought I was too young, but now I know differently.

Why do you regret it - did you split up - do you really miss the person who asked you?

I ditched him in quite a cruel way. I've missed him everyday since.

That's your punishment for being cruel to him.

That's sad Nat, it really hurts thinking back at people who were really special to us and are no longer in our lives. You'll have to meet someone you really like, its the only way you can really get over it.

Found out last night that a good friend of mine, at school, had died yesterday - my biggest mistake was losing touch with him after school - he was such a good friend.  In fact losing touch with many school friends was a mistake.

We tend to drift away from our school friends, it's just a sad fact of life. Unfortunately you don't realise until it's too late that it's harder to come by good friends the older you get.

Yes this is very true. It is very hard to keep close to people you don't see often, it seems that you always in time just drift away from each other as you have your own lives.

This is a very friendly thread, nice to see, quite rare round these parts at the moment. My biggest mistake I think was going to university - or more specifically staying local and going to Bolton, rather than moving out and going further afield. It's a dreadful uni, and I just ended up being bored to the point where I felt my degree wasn't actually going to help me get a proper job in any way. But your mistakes give you the lessons which shape your life and future choices.

I always try and look at things "how they could have been" and they might not all have been as rosey as you think "if only you did this". For example Natasha your potential life love could have turned out to be a right pillock after a few years and then marrying him would have been your biggest mistake, rather than not doing.

You just never know.

Nat, should we help you get fixed up on here, there seem to be some decent people about here and you'll both be Bolton fans which would be nice. We'll get you fixed up in no time.

Very kind Malcolm, but I'm already fixed up. It's just not the same.

Deidre is great at giving advice to be fair, unlike that Jane who is too heartless.

I would not say it is the biggest mistake of my life but it is a regret. I went to Plodder Lane primary school which is in Farnworth and I wanted to go to Harper Green Secondary School but my parents wanted me to go to St James which is also in Farnworth but they put both schools down but because I did not choose Harper Green as my first choice they rejected me but when asked by my teacher if I was happy with this I said yes even though I wasnt but surely this was a lot to ask a 10 year old to decide for himself without asking his parents.
