Let's face it, football is pretty boring these days.
Bolton are shite and their only objective is to finish 17th or above while all the time ripping off the fans. The national team is a joke and further away than ever from winning anything of note. And footballers in general are a bunch of overpaid wankers who have absolutely nothing in common with the average man in the street.
Cricket, on the other hand, is completely different.
Lancashire are an entertaining team with a chance of winning the title. The national team is the best in the world right now with some very handy players. Tickets are often similarly priced to football tickets, but you get around 7 hours of play rather than 90 minutes and you can have a drink without feeling like a criminal.
Are you prepared to ditch football and watch cricket?

Good point. I usually watch my cricket from the commentary box as i know a few of the ex pro's like Warne but i won't pay for it.

I like cricket - watched a fair bit of Lancashire and England in my early days.
I was at Old Trafford for the 1981 Ashes - nobody made a move on me and I payed for my own ticket - I've never got the hang of being a jet set person - too late in the day for me now I guess!

Amid the usual anti-Bolton anti-Coyle bollocks it's actually not a bad post this one. I don't agree with it, but it is a valid question. I personally can't stand Cricket. I know how the game works (to a basic level) and I've been to a bit of a match once but aside from the fact I can drink in view of the game and do that for hours on end, I find no positive from it. I don't like many sports that have no kind of physical contest involved really.
But it is getting more popular in this country again over the last few years. It'll never overtake football because there isn't enough variety of things that can happen. England can only ever play against about 8 nations and the local levels are uninterested to the masses I reckon. I can't see many Cricket fans doing the equivalent of "doing the 92" for example.

If cricket was that good a sport the whole world would be playing it, the fact it is only played by about 10 countries shows it nothing flash. Its the same with rugby, only about 7 countries play it and the reason only 7 countries play it is because its shíte.
Look at American football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, the proof is in the pudding, only a few countries play it because its shíte.
Football is played in every country because its amazing.
Back to cricket, I used to love playing it on the beach in the South of France but that's as far as it goes. Its a bit of fun and a bit of a laugh but its not ever a patch on football.

Cricket is very interesting if you take the time to learn the rules. Look at the Ian Bell incident at the weekend...hours of debate. I won't even go into the atmosphere as you've never been to a football game to compare it to. |

Personally I don't like cricket, nothing against people who do but it's just not for me.
Football will always be my first and favourite sport even if bolton aren't exactly winning trophies. My 2nd sport is golf which a lot find boring and IMO cricket is boring.

Test Cricket is superb.
The way the game ebbs and flows is brilliant. A true contest of ability, wits, tactics etc.
More of a thinking persons game than football.

Can't say I've ever really been interested in cricket, but I went to a 20/20 match at the Oval a couple of years back and have to admit it was a bloody good day out. I also seem to recall it being quite resonable compared to football. Decent selection of food and you can take your ale to your seats.
Infact this has spurred me on to giving it another whirl this summer, cheers Natasha.

I dont like Test matches - apart from the Ashes, and dont really like County Cricket (whose idea was it to have Holland in the County competitions - its not even a county but a country) or the One-dayers. Must admit I am a big fan of the Twenty20 games. Ticket prices at about 15 quid and lasts 3 hours - well worth the price.
Another good things about Cricket, from my point view, is that I have been to all the major test grounds here in England and even been to the the Gabba, MCG, Adelaide Oval and the SCG.

England are brilliant to watch at the minute, our bowling attack strikes fear into even the best batsman the rest of the world has to offer, also good to see those convicts being a shell of the force they once was.
