Sergio Aguero says he has joined a club that will be "fighting every year to win major trophies" after completing his move from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City.

The Argentina international arrived in England on Wednesday to finalise the transfer for a reported £38m.

On Thursday evening the club announced Aguero had signed a five-year deal.

The club said the striker, 23, was likely to be in their squad for the weekend's Dublin Super Cup tournament.

They've picked a decent player to replace Tevez.

If they can sell him.  They seem to have put an unrealistic price tag on him, not to mention his wages.

I imagine they want a good price to get their balance sheet a bit more in order for UEFA?

They're after stupid money if he goes anywhere in Europe because the whole point of him wanting to leave was to go back to South America for his family. If he goes to South America they want slightly less stupid money.

Does that Uefa rule come in this season?

I'm not sure but iirc the rule only starts to become meaningful after a season or two - so as to allow teams to gradually meet the financial targets.

Tbh I can't see it working because all the biggest European teams could simply break away and form their own league (and the TV money would follow them) if they didn't get their own way.

Fantastic player, can't wait to see how he does.

It's good to see one of the best coming over here, that's one thing to thank the Prem for - have seen Desailly, Shevchenko, O'Kane etc

City don't really need to balance their books after their clever trick where the owner who owns that airways company paying Man City £400m for naming rights of the stadium. Genius!
City don't need the money, they just want to stand firm when it comes to their best players, they have every right to demand £40m for Tevez, he is a superb player and definitely worth as much as Aguero. I wonder if Tevez may be interested in staying now they have signed his international striker partner. I think the City owners have been superb for the Premiership, they have brought some really big names to the Premier League - Robinho, Aguero, Yaya Toure, Balotelli, David Silva, etc.
