What is death metal?

Actually no, I can hazard a guess & it'll not be music as I know it.

Yeah, I do.. they've added more prog elements in recent years which has made them better, I think.

yes, but i think Eric The Red is their best album. Songs like Regin Smiður and Ólavur Riddararós are still very popular in the Faroes. Also Ormurin Langi is one of the biggest hit in the Faroe Island ever.

No offence Howfen, and thanks for finding it, but I think I'll prefer to remain ignorant of the delights of Swedish deth metal.

I've been seeing them live so it was no major effort finding it.

Most Death Metal is excruciatingly boring.  There is nothing behind it except blind, retarded aggression.  Its one (small) step up from the wankery of metalcore and grind.

So I'll probably not see them doing a duet with George Benson then?

Does anyone of you know about them, or do you hate this type of music?

I'm still waiting for Wintersun to release their next album. Come on Jari you lazy yet talented sod.

Good but all 5000 of their albums sound the same.

Moonsorrow, Manegarm, Kampfar, Agalloch & Primordial are all a cut above, for starters.

Thanks for finding that impression of death metal, a perfect example of why when people say I'm "a mosher", I'll argue that I'm not. I love proper metal, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Manowar, Judas Priest, etc. But a guy screaming in a tone that can't be deciphered into ...well anything, isn't music. It isn't a vocallist. It's a roarer. I can do that if I want to.

Pfk, you seem to have a good musical head on your shoulders. Give me something.

Johan Hegg must be one of the best roarers in the world. Also Shagrath from Dimmu Borgir is very good. I prefer to call it growl though

Used to be until my mate became massively obsessed with them and wouldn't shut the fcúk up playing/going on about them.

RIP to 'Willie Eckerslike' as well, don't exactly know what happened and if the band are continuing as a three-piece, but I met him at one of their gigs and he was a real nice guy.

He hung himself whilst under investigation for child pornography offences. They're now a five-piece apparently. Saw them in Manny around last December - a good, clean fun night out it was, too.

I've just done a Google search for this and that's shocking. If he's taken his own life then it's more than likely true as well.
