Another fantastic Tour - one of the best I've seen.

Cadel Evans single-handedly keeps himself in the Tour with some brutal climbing in the Alps then blitzes the others to take the overall lead in lead in the Time Trial, which he retains in to Paris (the end of the Tour).

Also Mark Cavendish wins his fifth stage win today - the big iconic one on the Champs-Elysees to take the green jersey (which is basically for the fastest man in the race - the best sprinter if you will) the first Brit to do so.

Fantastic end to a fantastic three weeks of racing / theatre.

For those of you who can't get into the Tour de France - you don't know what a treat you are missing!

Totally agree with you Sluffy. I absolutely love the Tour de France, its a brilliant 3 weeks when its on. I love everything about it, the racing is brilliant, the atmosphere around the race is amazing, the places they go through are fantastic, I love watching the breakaways trying to win from miles out and then the sprint finishes.
I feel sorry for those that don't like it and don't give it a chance because it is a really special event. I am gutted its over.

Has there been a better Tour? Who can forget the heroics of Hoogerland after he flew into the barbed wire fence. Voeckler reliving 2004, Hushovd proving that he’s more than just a sprinter, Geraint Thomas’ attack on the Pyrenees and Cav’s Sunday glory. There’s been thrills such as Rolland triumph on Alp d'Huez and spills such as the retirements of Wiggins, Vinokourov as well as 29 others.

When it cam to the teams the combination of Garmin and the Cervelo Test Team proved to be the pick of the bunch whilst the Armstong-less Team Radioshack certainly proved to be the unluckiest. On the other side of the scale Team Sky were much stronger especially with young prospect Edvald Boasson Hagen claiming two stage victories.

In all we saw 5 different mean wear yellow, Philippe Gilbert, Thor Hushovd, Thomas Voeckler, Andy Schleck and the veteran Cadel Evans who became the first ever Australian to win the Tour. Fingers crossed it won’t be long until we can add a Briton as a past winner.

In conclusion it was another cracking year for what must be the toughest endurance race out there. It was also nice to see that eccentric German bloke who dresses as a devil is still going strong.

"What about the piranhas?"
